So far the car handles well and performs all the basic functions for which it was purchased. The paint and appearance is good and the engine responsiveness (6 cyl.),to acceleration is very good. Major components work well.

  • Good luck getting parts - 2003 Toyota 4Runner

After 13 months, and 21,400 miles I lost the transmission completely. It had to be replaced. It took one week just for the dealership to get the transmission, and another 2 days for install. Had I not complained to Toyota Corporate, the dealership was estimating about 3 weeks to get the part. No one should have to wait this long. This was my first and last Toyota. I bought a Toyota to avoid poor craftsmanship, but this thing is about as poor as you can get. I also lost the brake sensor on this lemon when it was only a week old. That took 3 days for parts, and only because I made the dealer pull from one on the lot.

  • 2003 4Runner Much Improved. - 2003 Toyota 4Runner

I already had a 2000 4Runner, so I was not looking to buy another one. Seeing the new 4Runners exterior did not have a magical effect on me, but after getting in side it, I had to have it. It is so more roomier, the back hatch door closes automatically and has a sensor to open it (no more dirty hands). I love my heated seats and the dual climate control is a must for a happy marriage. The stereo controls on the steering wheel and the new designed HVAC controls keep my eyes on the road. It handels better than the Land Crusier. The acceleration with the V8 is awesome! My insurance rates actually went down due to the side curtain air bags.

We traded in our Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited on this beautiful WHite Gold Package 4runner. What a move UP. This vehicle is awesome and makes driving in any weather a great pleasure.

  • New V8 Sport Edition - 2003 Toyota 4Runner

Ive owned my 4Runner 4WD V8 Sport now for a little over a week. My initial impression is that I like it a lot. Its comfortable, sporty looking (for an SUV), and fun to drive. The V8 is powerful and responsive. However, the displayed mileage indicates that I am averaging about 17.5 MPG which seems about 2 MPG higher than my own calculations show. I test drove the Honda Pilot before buying the 4Runner. I liked the Pilot, but decided to buy the 4Runner. So far, I am pleased with my decision.

This is my 2nd 4Runner, having traded my 95 for a the new 2003. And its worth the wait! Wow! What a refined, sophisticated SUV! The V8, as promised, is buttery smooth & powerful. The ride and handling are also much improved over my previous model. New interior is wider, comfier, smarter. Great job Toyota! Now, just add the things that the dealer tries to pin on you after already spending $32K!! Rip-off!

The V6 engine is much more powerful than I thought. It rides nice; looks nice. Fuel economy 18.9 and 20.7 on the first 2 tanks of gas. Only thing wrong-the passenger seat is not very comfortable. Other than that, I love it!

It is true quality without the fluff. I Think of this truck as a fine wine. It will get better with age.
