  • get the SR5 04 No more cladding - 2004 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

I had the 03 SR5 V8 4-Runner with Cladding for 6 months. A great handling SUV for a truck based SUV. The V8 engine with the 5 speed auto- transmission is the model to buy. However, after a few months, I took notice of the 04 SR5 models and they no longer had cladding. I found that the cladding was getting old fast. So on my 15K service I checked with the deal about the 04 SR5 V8 model, and for the package I got the same options, the spoiler-10 speaker system and 17" wheels with fog lights (now standard on the SR5). The sticker was only $800 dollars more. Now have the 04 with no cladding.

  • 4-RUNNER FOR LIFE - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

Bought our 04 4-runner and absolutely will never buy any other vehicle as long as they make it as good as this one. The reliability is awesome. I drive cross-country 2-3 times a year and I am very confident in this vehicle getting me where Im going. I am 49 yr. old female and have it serviced regularly every 3000 miles. Same tires as the day we bought it with 20,000 more left. Done nothing to it but oil changes and check-ups at the Toyota dealerships. Still drives like the day we bought it and now has 74,000 miles. Will keep it til it falls apart, but plan on buying me a new one with the newer body style around 2012 or 2013. Way to go Toyota. You have a very satisfied customer here.

  • Silky smooth V8 and 5spd auto - 2004 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

Wanted a BMW X5 4.4 but also wanted proven reliability and piece of mind. The 4runner with XREAS, v8 and mated to the silky smoothe 5spd were good enough. Also do not have to worry about an extened warrenty given Toyota reliability. Getting 18mpg with suburban and 20+ highway driving. Very happy with purchase.

  • excellent except - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

I love my 4runner except one thing. The fuel economy on this puppy is not that good. I go to the gas pump quite a bit in this thing. The 4 wheel drive is awesome and has pulled me through many a snow storm. Toyota quality is outstanding.

  • A good buy! Get the 4x4 Sport or Limited - 2004 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

I bought this vehicle after researching many in its class (Trlblzr,Explorer,Cherokee,Endvor,Pilot, Durango, etc). I settled on the 4X4 SR5 edition only because I couldnt find a 4x4 sport edition mica Gray 6 cyl with a sunroof in a 100 mile radius (Crap). I got the spoiler added to the rear and the 17 in rims. My biggest grief with this vehicle is that the front end tends to wonder about when driving at highway speeds in the whimpest of wind speeds. The footing becomes more sure foot when I select the 4x4 full time mode. I recommed the sport or limited editions to get the heated mirrors, telescopic steering wheels-which should be standard on ALL 4runners.

  • Avg 23 MPG - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

I keep looking for a more practical, better milage, more "green" vehicle that will handle my needs. I research every new suv, stationwagon, hatchback, etc. I cant find anything old or new to compete with the new style 4Runner. A vehicle for any "season or reason". This is the most balanced, smooth, performining V6 on the road. I have had 6 diff SUVs. This is near perfection.

  • Reliable Suv - 2004 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

This is our second Toyota and its been just as reliable as our 1st. Our 4runner has 65000 miles on it and the only problem weve had was a shock that went bad. My wife has a job that requires her to get to work, no matter what the weather is doing. Shes drove in 6 inches of snow with blowing and drifting for 15 miles. She had to drive around vehicles stuck in the middle of the highway. She never spun a wheel. Awesome fourwheel drive system!

  • Absolutely Terrific! - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

Ive owned 4 Pathfinders, two Blazers, two Tahoes, and a Jeep Wrangler--there is absolutely no comparing these SUVs with my new 4Runner. This vehicle tracks better, rides better, and gets better fuel economy (21.1 avg for first 2,900 miles) than any sport utilty Ive driven. I also own a 2003 Honda S-2000 and a 2004 BMW 330ci, but I find myself driving the 4Runner every chance I get!!!

  • 2004 SE-V8 - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

I sold my Honda Pilot for obvious reasons - The 4Runner is quieter, drives better and awesome v8 power. The Honda was on par but not as refined nor as smooth. I had my Honda Pilot almost two years and with 40k miles. Its ride is harsh and on par with my 2004 honda civic.

  • Nice try, but disappointing - 2004 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

Fits in the short side of my garage, tows 7000 pounds, and is a true off roader. Its a lot more fun to drive on the road than my RX300 was. The X- REAS shocks help, and the torque (and the sound) of the V8 doesnt hurt, either. The fit and finish match the RX300, and the leather seems less fragile. The road noise isolation is extremely good, but there is too much wind noise. There is also a vibration in the steering wheel at around 1700 RPM, which becomes extremely annoying in 5th gear. Instead of fixing the problem, Toyota is calling it "characteristic of the vehicle." Also, so far Im getting no better gas mileage than on my Suburban.
