  • I like this vehicle - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

Great SUV, the second that Ive owned. Toyota quality and a whole lot of fun to drive. I hope this runs as long as every one says it will. My first SUV was American made and it just didnt quite cut it.

  • Fun, Fun, Fun - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

I too test drove numerous mid-sized SUVs and really liked the "Runner". I also currently own a 2002 Explorer. What a difference between the two. While the Explorer is somewhat bigger, the ride quality is no match for the 4 Runner. The 4 Runner seems lighter, more nimble and just more overall fun to drive. Kudos on the new body style and engine horsepower!

  • Excellent Vehicle - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

I am a land surveyor and work anywhere in North Georgia. Consequently, I put 30,000 miles per year on this vehicle. I have always known Toyotas were legendary for reliability, and this one has been no exception. What I did not know, however, was how exceptionally capable it is off road. I have taken this vehicle in mud close to a foot deep and it comes right out. It has also been up some inclines so steep that all my surveying equipment slid to the rear door.I expect to get close to 200,000 miles out of it before I buy another one just like it (or better). Excellent vehicle!!

Dont cry about gas mileage. It does better than some other SUV like the sorento and is a better all around truck. Fit and finish is great.

i wasnt crazy about the styling at first. i chose it because of toyota reliability. i was tired of purchasing american junk and bringing back constantly for warranty repairs. this truck is fabulous. you cant get a better truck in that price range. i highly reccomend.

  • Military approved (unofficial) - 2004 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

As a member of the military I needed a vehicle that could haul a lot of stuff and ride comfortably for long durations without having to stop every 200 miles for a fill up. Although I think the cargo space could be increased a bit in the 4Runner, using a roof bag is always an option. The lack of cargo space is more than made up for by the build quality, performance, and peace of mind that the 4Runner gives me. Its very capable on the highway and can go anywhere on military bases that I need to go. The headlights are by far the best that Ive had on any vehicle Ive driven. Selectable 4WD is also a big plus to save gas on the highway.

  • The Best There Is - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

I traded in a 2002 Nissan Pathfinder for this vehicle. The dealership gave me the keys to the SR5 4WD and allowed me to go for a test drive on my own. The minute I started driving, I knew this was the vehicle for me. It is a far superior product than the Nissan, and I have driven other makes as well. Fords Explorer does not even compare. The styling is big and bold. The performance is excellent, the gas mileage is decent (considering its power), and it is safe and reliable. I would highly recommend this vehicle to anyone. It is just such a great vehicle.

  • Good All Around Vehicle - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

I purchased my 2004 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition 8 months ago and it had 159,000 miles, it now has 170,000. Overall it has been a great vehicle. The ride is very smooth and the 4 wheel drive has been great. Since I purchased it I have had to have somethings fixed. The exhaust manifolds on the 2003-2009 4Runners have an issue with leaking. I had them replaced with an aftermarket part, and that so far has resolved that issue. I noticed the radiator leaking on the left hand side, and had that replaced. I will have to have the rearend rebuilt since I am starting to hear a whining noise.

We taste drove another suv brand and it did not compare to the Toyota 4Runner. It is so comfortable. My husband loves the way he sits in it and hes truck guy. We are so happy we got it.

  • 2nd Time Around - 2004 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

2nd Generation 4-Runner owner. This one is an upgrade over 2000 model. More interior room, stronger engine with better mileage. Have had 3 problems. Dead battery, bad oxygen sensor and dead radio (after warranty period)-expensive fix. Other than that its been a great vehicle that shows very little signs of wear with no interior noises after 72K. Average 19mph in mixed driving.
