We get 22-23 MPG on highway driving and 19 in city. Ride is a little stiff but you expect that in a SUV. We have had only one minor problem and that was the low tire pressure light. It was fixed on the first visit to service. My wife loves the way the seats fit her back. My only problem is I have to duck my head to enter the front seats. I am 6 feet tall.

  • Nice SUV - 2005 Toyota 4Runner

This is my first SUV ever. I bought a Toyota because I knew of toyota cars quality. The only problem that I can mention is that the driver seat wiggles a little bit if you take a sharp turn. I took it to the dealer and they told me that that was normal and that Toyota knew about it.

  • 4th generation 4runner awesome! - 2005 Toyota 4Runner

First SUV and man did I make the right decision. Paid $32K for the Sport V8 with black leather, moonroof, JBL system, spoiler, alarm, etc. Doesnt drive like a truck. I drove ML, Xterra, other SUVs before and the 4runner shows that it can corner like a sedan but yet behaves the a truck over hard terrain or rough rodes. Glides over potholes. Never have to worry about flats. The VVTi V8 is very impressive and well worth the lower gas mileage. Smooth powerband though slight delay at 1500 rpm. You cant be shy to step on gas up to 5300 RPM. Fit and finish is typical Toyota. Very quiet ride. XREAS suspension is awesome, noticeable diff w/ SR5.

  • Toyota 4-Runner Rates Top Score - 2005 Toyota 4Runner

My experience with the 4-runner goes back 16 years. My original 4-runner is an 88 with 191,000 miles and still running beautifully. I have never owned a more reliable vehicle. My new 4- runner was purchased as the body on the old 4-runner has started rusting out. When sitting in the drivers seat of the new 4-runner you know you have a product that is very safe and mechanically is made better and lasts longer than most other vehicles. I have owned bmws, fords, chevys, rented dodge, gmc and none compare to the Toyota 4-runner. It is #1 in my book. I have nothing negative to say about it. Nothing else tops the Toyota all around. It wont disappoint you. Buy one

Only item needed are in the roof rack, it has no extra hooks to tie things up.

We traded in a 2001 V-6 Limited 4Runner for no other reason than the lease was up. It never had a single problem, and its trade-in value was significantly higher than the residual payoff, which actually gave me good equity for the down payment on a new one!!! We liked the look of the VW Toureg (but some reviews scared us about potential electrical problems). Also liked the Toyota Sequoia, but didnt want 3rd row seats, because we wouldnt use them. So we stayed with the 4Runner, but upgraded to the 2005 V-8 Limited, with all the toys. It handles extremely well, smooth/quiet ride, nice interior amenities. Have had excellent prior experience with Toyota reliability & service.

  • Better the Second Time Around - 2005 Toyota 4Runner

This is the second 4 Runner Ive owned. The upgrades made inside and out since the 2000 model I owned previously are wonderful. The improved ride, handling, comfort and temperature controls are really nice. I wish they had the dial for engaging the 4WD in a different location though. There have been several times I accidently put it in 4WD without knowing it until I looked at the dash gauges. I love the game type temp. control buttons. The little hidden features like the back seat cup holders/table top and the trash can holder are great features. I find the cargo net pretty useless though. It doesnt seem to work very well. Bottom line, I love it and will buy a 3rd!

  • Driver seat and gas/brake pedal - 2005 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

I have had the vehicle only a short time and find it to be a much better vehicle than my old 98 Ford Explorer. Although the Explorers seats were more comfortable. I am 61" and find the driver seat to be short in the leg area and hard to adjust. I understand the 06s have power seats standard and telescoping steering wheel adjustments. Both features are very much needed. There is very limited space between the gas and break pedal and I find that with my boots on I have the tendency to hit both the gas and break at the same time. Other than that I am loving it.

Great vehicle. Enjoy the ride even with the 4WD package. Feels sturdy like a truck but handles like a car.
