My first brand new vehicle and I chose the 2004 Toyota 4Runner SR5. A great buy with many included options like a CD/Tape player with 6 speakers, moonroof, power everything, running boards, and leather. Very roomy for me at 61". Lots of leg room and very comfortable during long drives. The gas mileage is acceptable since it is an SUV. A great family vehicle and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in owning an SUV.

I love my 2004 4runner sports edition. The plus side to the sports edition compared to the SR5 is the inside of the sports edition is a lot better. The drive is really smooth on the highways and city streets.

  • It gives me no good reason to sell it. - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

I bought used with 117,000 miles about 3 years ago and have about 160k on it now. Ive replaced rear brake pads and oil changes and thats it. Cold a/c in Texas summers and plenty of power. Ive been toying with the notion of selling it for something else but its so reliable I cant justify it. I always buy my cars used and only keep them about 3 years. This misnt be the exception :) Awesome product Toyota!

  • Traded in JGC for a V6 SR5 - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

Had a JGC 5.2L AWD with reliability problems but otherwise OK experience. Traded it in for a new 04 SR5. Compared with the Jeep, it is much more refined, but engin is a bit wimpy. I am suprised by the 0-60 of 8.2s results on the V6 4Rnr. With 1500 miles, so far no big problems. But there are several things that should not have been there: (1) steering wheel felt a bit shaking at 65mph, not consistently present. (2) Plastic casing for the RoofRack that contains the joint to the roof was NOT snapped in => had to snap in myself. (3) Wind noises are a bit more than I expected, there is some hint of hi- pitch wind whistling from pass window, Have not decided to take to the dealers yet.

  • Best Car Ive Ever Owned - 2004 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

Definitely the best car I have ever owned. Every summer we drive to New York and this SUV has made the trip 6 times with absolutely no problems. The only money we have put into this vehicle is for the oil, and windshield wipers, but it stops there. The vehicle has 160,000 miles and we bought it in 07 with 20,000. Another incredible thing about this SUV is this past month a friends truck weighing in at about 6500 lbs died and got stuck in sand, and this 4Runner pulled it out with absolutely no problem. Overall, the best vehicle to have come our way.

  • What a welcomed change - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

After driving a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500, the Toyota 4 Runner puts Dodge to shame. The comfort and convienence of a SUV is incredible. The warrnaties make it appealing for years to come. I love my new 4 Runner, take one for a test drive and youll be sold.

  • My truck - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

Bought this SUV Thanksgiving weekend. It was great for this years snowstorms in NYC. I was glad to upgrade from my reliable Camry to this truck. The gas mileage is horrible but you should expect that with any SUV of this size. Ive gotten 2 cracks in the windshield already from driving on the highway this winter. I dont know if it is the angle of the windshield or the highway road conditions in NJ or what. Maybe the angle of the windshield? Maybe just bad luck? This happened within the first 1500 miles. Overall the SUV handles very well. It can make quick U-turns and it is very responsive.

  • Review of a new owner - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

My review is restricted to the first 100 of ownership since I just purchased the vehicle. Initial impression is very good. Tight, truck like construction but comfortable ride and good agility. The acceleration is a little limited, but it is a 6. Im looking forward to experiencing its adaptability to the hunting environment of west Texas.
