Excellent Truck - 2003 Toyota 4Runner
By PeterS - April 30 - 2:00 amA truly great sport ute. Size is plenty big but not too big. Acceleration with the V8 is beeter than could be expected in a truck this size. The handling, espcially in corners, is also excellent for a truck its size. The only complaint is gas mileage, but with a truck like this you should know that will stink.

2003 4Runner Limted - 2003 Toyota 4Runner
By elvisdog - April 24 - 10:00 amI purchased my 2003 4Runner Limited this past January, and I have been extremely happy with it. This truck has outstanding comfort (more so than a 5 series BMW), passing ability (the V-8 has impressive power), and a handsome design (people comment on it all the time). Even though it has a car-like ride, it handled this past winters 26 inch blizzard of snow with no problem. I especially like the design and looks of the interior. It is an intuitive layout, with brushed aluminum and "granite-look" accents. I hate the look of fake wood. My advice to anyone considering purchasing a mid-size suv would be to not be lazy and test drive this vehicle.

ticking noise from engine - 2003 Toyota 4Runner
By netster - April 24 - 10:00 amGreat truck overall, fun to drive and sturdy. However, since I purchased the truck, there has been a ticking sound coming from the engine. The dealer said that it is the pully and would fix when toyota figures out a fix.

Good Buy - 2003 Toyota 4Runner
By Rahul_boy - March 12 - 10:00 amI decided to buy the Infinity FX 35 but then test drove the Toyota 4 Runner Limited. I was floored, the performace was very close to the Fx35 and it was a lot cheaper. Add to it the Toyota quality and you have a bombshell. Here is the deal if you can afford it buy the X5 if not then the 4 Runner is your best option. Also get the limited only if you are looking for leather seats desprately, if not then then the SR5 is a strong option.

2003 4Runner V8 - 2003 Toyota 4Runner
By Buzz Mann - March 7 - 10:00 amSo far so good. Ive had my Runner now for 7 weeks and have driven over 3,500 kms since I bought it (2,200 miles). Runs like a charm. Decent fuel economy considering its a V8 - in fact its better on gas than my previous 1999 V6 Runner. Great ride, great performance, great handling and an excellent array of safety features made this new Runner a sure winner over the competition. I shopped around and considered domestics and other foreign brands, and finally settled for another 4Runner. My insurance premiums actually came down over $200 per year versus my 1999 Runner. Toyota has done it again!

Devil in the Details - 2003 Toyota 4Runner
By rob in co - March 7 - 10:00 amOverall, this is a very impressive vehicle. However, I have had a recurrent front suspension squeak (traced to the body mount) that is still not fixed after 4 visits to the dealer, and I am now seeking to have the vehicle replaced with a new one with 3200 miles on the clock. I have also been bothered by a rattle in the headliner by the sunglass holder. I expected better attention to the small details by Toyota, but hopefully they will remedy the situation. I love the vehicle otherwise, Id just like to have a new one thats without the squeaks and rattles.

4X4 - 2003 Toyota 4Runner
By biohazard - February 3 - 2:00 amOverall design very nice. At first, the plastic seemed too much but is useful to cut down on the dents and dings. The V8 is very peppy coupled to a tranny that adjusts to driving conditions and personal driving habits. The XREAS is without a doubt a feature you cant live without. XREAS keeps the vehicle from tilting in turns. Dont buy the vehicle without it. The climate control knobs are the only feature I dont like but nothing can be completely perfect. This is the best SUV with cool features. All others are the same ole thing, boring.

My first 4Runner - 2003 Toyota 4Runner
By lescarpenito - February 3 - 2:00 amHaving been discouraged with the lack of interior space in previous year models, I am pleased with the amount of room with the 2003 re-design. Also I am pleased to see the v-8 available since the old v-6 didnt provide enough power for this size of vehicle. The X- REAS shock system is great!!! Do have to fumble at times looking for window controls, wished they were positioned higher up on the door panel
