I have had my truck for a year. I love this truck, but have had it in the shop 3 times for front end noise. The technition can never duplicate the offending sound and therefore can never fix it. Strangely enough, when I come in for a ride with the technition the sound is gone. Talk about shady. My stereo is being replaced Thursday for a constant Error1 signal, and my sunroof has an intermittant problem. But for all the irritations, I love my truck!

This truck is a great buy. We bought this car for my wife and she absolutely loves it. This car is also well built because she was rear ended last week and the 4Runner had minimal damage while the other truck was not so lucky. This car also gets some serous complemets.

  • Traded in my lemon after just 1 year - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

I was in the market to buy my first new car and wanted something with an excellent track record. I got a lemon. In the 11 months I owned it, the dealership had it for nearly 6 weeks. Everything was covered under warranty except that so many problems is unacceptable. Major issues like the vehicle dynamic stability function kicking on and off making safe driving impossible and the exhaust leaking inside the cabin (never able to fix). And LOTS of little things broke from the sun roof staying open (big problem in Boston), to the rear roll up window, to the gas cap release lever severed (stuck out on a trip with no way to fill up and not nearly gas enough to get home), even the stereo broke.

I have driven from New York to California during the summer of 2003, New York to Utah the summer of 2004 and New York to Arizona with a detour to Texas during the summer of 2005. The three trips were approximately 23,000 miles. The 4 Runner met every challenge through snow in the Rockies and 100 degree heat in Texas with power and class. The V8 had no peers! A beautiful truck inside and out!

  • Wish I had bought one sooner - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

As a former chevy driver I can say that I am sorry I did not buy my 4runner sooner! The V6 is more than adequate if you are driving in town. It is surprisingly powerful! The exterior is more stylish than the older models and the interior is roomy. Although I do not have a third row seat I think it would be a tight fit for anyone other than kids.

  • First SUV, Love It and Having Fun!!!! - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

I love my SUV. At first it kept jumping 4 a lack of a better word. Whenever I pressed the gas, especially going around corners, my SUV jumped into gear late. Make sure B 4 buying, U R sure U want 2 spend money 4 gas, maintenance and insurance. Short/Petite ladies U will get a workout from the trunk door. It is very heavy. However, on the positive side, my husband said that was good because I wont have 2 worry about it falling down on me. The driver window/door controls are a little award 2 get 2, but will get use 2 the location. If U have long arms, it may not bother U. Overall a wonderful choice.

I chose the 4Runner over the Explorer and the Pilot. The 4Runner had a smoother ride and felt to me that I was sitting higher and had more of a command of the road. The leather seats are much softer and more comfortable than the ones in the Pilot and Explorer. The 4Runner has lots of power, great options and is fun to drive. I wish it were American made- this is my first non-American made vehicle and that fact still bothers me a bit. But hands down, it was the best of everything I looked at and I looked and researched for months before making my decision.

  • Why would you ever buy a domestic SUV? - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

This vehicle is great! Japanese engineering with American wants and needs built into it. Large enough to handle the average American family, yet it has the quality and reliability of an import. My 4Runner looks great and runs even better.

Just recently purchased a SR5 V8 4Runner. You get a lot of features for the money with this truck. Ride and handling are excellent, acceleration and braking are very good. Transmission is silky smooth. The sound level in the cabin is very quiet, with virtually no road noise.
