I get much better MPG than the window sticker states. I average 25 mpg highway which I think is great considering my Lexus ES gets 29 MPG highway.

This is by far the most sure footed vehicle Ive ever owned. Its whisper quiet, smooth & powerful. It is almost impossible to get the vehicle slip or slide under any conditions. With the Xreas & air susp it handles better then most cars. I went offroading & cant believe how capable it is. Went through 2 foot water/mud, very steep rocky hills & didn’t skip a beat. There are so many features and little details that I’m still finding. The Nav is awesome with the back-up camera. Talk about sweet comfortable heated leather seats. The V8 & 5 speed has to be the smoothest drive train on the market today. If you want to get spoiled, you will fall in love with this vehicle. It has no equal!

Strangely, I traded a 2002 F-350 diesel for the 2005 4Runner. We wanted a vehicle that both my wife and I could drive. The F-350 was too much for my wife. Although I really miss the diesel motor on my truck (and the camper), the 4.7 liter v-8 is very nice. Its enough to pull my 17" boat, and should be able to handle a small trailer. The fit and finish of the 4Runner is really top notch. I am amazed at how refined the interior is, especially compared to my Ford, which, with the Lariat trim, was no slouch. But the superior build quality of the Toyota is already apparent.

  • Not living up to the Toyota legend - 2005 Toyota 4Runner

This vehicle is not very user friendly. The dash and control layout take a lot to get used to. If its a secondary vehicle you might feel like your driving a Rubiks cube. Limited head room combined with a passenger seat that doesnt adjust vertically, it leaves my head on the ceiling when Im the passenger. Fuel economy is poor when you factor in the cost of premium gas.

Great driving SUV. takes bumps like a champ, you hardly feel it. Gas mileage is to be expected for a SUV but its no worse than a V8 sedan or big block V6. Love the radio that tells you the song title and artist while its playing.( for all you download junkies). Big sun roof. love the auto dimming rear view mirrors and auto on/off headlights. I have a ton of cassettes that I still play, now I can play inside SUV because it is one of the few remaining SUVs with tape deck. Steering wheel radio controls are great. can control whole audio system (including tape deck) from it. Highly recommend buying this SUV. its a little pricey, but you get what you pay for.

I test drove the 2005 Limited 4x4 V8 last night, and I fell in love. The V8 took off like a rocket and I was very impressed. I will be purchasing one very soon.

I had a 2002 Honda CRV and was happy with it but I could not go on the beach. I just bought the 2005 SR5 $wheel drive and can say tha it drives better than the Honda. The truck get over 20 mpg, what a surpise. I did test drive a few other trucks but I like Toyoutas reputation and quality of build. This is more truck than car and that was another determing factor. If I want a "car like ride" I would buy a car.

I really love this vehicle. I have a Infinity I 30 so ride and comfort are very important to me along with the ability to run off road. I drove them all. Toyota is not the cheapest price but the best with highway ride, off road and styling and comfort all put togehter. Plus great Toyota resell if that is important to you.

This is my first SUV and first Toyota, but I am foreign car guy. Very happy with the performance and build quality. Engine is strong. Visibility excellent. Good in strong cross-current winds. Electronics are user-friendly. Love that hood scoop! Had leather seats put in and very happy with those over the cloth.
