I had the 02 Tacoma and upgraded to the 4Runner....I love it!!!! The comfort, the gas mileage, everything. We had traveled quite extensively in ours (over 33,000 miles and havent had it 2 years yet) and you cant beat the comfort. I will definitely buy another one when its time to trade in.

  • Great SUV, except Navigation system - 2003 Toyota 4Runner

This SUV is one of finest excuted machines Ive ever driven! Has the ruggedness and off-road abilities of a mountain goat, yet is UNBELIEVABLY smooth and quiet and has the performance matching or exceeding some sport-sedans!!! WOW! The only major negative is the SUB-PAR Navigation system, which is full of errors and has limited functionality!

Great performance, very quiet. XRES is great, the thing cuts corners almost like a sedan. Feels good even compared with Maxima (my other car). Great SUV, if I had to choose again Id make the same choice. The V8 is great, just takes long to warm up in winter. At 10F in the morning, heater doesnt kick in until you drive 2 miles. My mileage is 12/20 in summer and 10/17 in winter with no passengers (and 5-7 MPG in rush hour traffic in downtown Boston!).Highway mileage with 3 passengers in summer was about 17. Mileage as measured by onboard computer is always 2-3 MPG higher than actual - which is the only _funny_ thing I noticed about 4Runner.

This quite simply is the best SUV on the market. Quite, smooth, and fast. Looks great too!!!

This is my 2nd 4Runner and this time, I opted for the top of the line Limited V8. I have now owned this SUV for over six months and it is absolutely a fantastic vehicle in every way, on or off road.I still own a 1998 that just had its first brake change at 133,700 miles, with no other expense except for a water pump last year. Quality and reliability to the max. I intend to keep both trucks for a very long time.

I was going to buy the 2002 4Runner when the huge discounts started last September. Boy, Am I glad I waited and bought the 2003. Not only does it outperform, but so far has lived up to everything as advertised and the dealer matched my price of $800 over invoice. I have already had the pleasure of taking it through the Snow Packed Sierras during the Xmas holiday. Since then, I have racked up 5500 miles in 6 weeks between the mountains and coast. I didnt think I would like the dual cargo system, but for the Californian who skis and golfs, it is perfect. Finally, as a former GM Truck owner the interior controls are more user friendly and of better quality.

We traded an 04 Envoy 4x4 for this because we trailer a dirt bike and atv. As it turns out, we can use this on the 4x4 trails near where we live. The gas mileage leaves a little to be desired, but the V8 wasnt purchased for amazing gas mileage. I get about 15 in the city and 21ish on the highway. With 1100 pounds of trailer in tow, we get about 19. I dont think thats too bad for full-time 4wd.

Just returned from a 4000 mile road trip with kayaks on top, bikes attached to a hitch rack, and it was fully loaded. The six cylinder has loads of torque 283 and plenty of horsepower as well, 245. It is fun to drive, exceptionally comfortable, and handles extremely well.

  • 4Runner is the gold standard - 2003 Toyota 4Runner

Everyone that rides in it says it feels like a luxury car. I got it for its awesome off-road abilities but it is the best of all worlds. The ride is very comfortable and doesnt lean in corners. My Sport Edition comes standard with XREAS. The quality is rock solid perfection and reminds me of Lexus; and not the cheap Lexus but the level of the RX330 and above. I have not had one problem with the truck. Not even a rattle or squeak- even while off-roading.

  • Improvement on near perfection... - 2003 Toyota 4Runner

I previously owned a 98 4Runner Limited and loved it....this one has carried a lot of the stuff I loved on the old one but improved a lot of the interior...the cup holders are now located in a place that makes sense...not in front of the air conditioner...the interior of the vehicle is wider and much more comfortable...probably the best thing is the ride is 100% smoother than the previous model...theres nothing I would change about it!!!
