I bought my 4Runner in July and I am in love with it! Its a pleasure to drive it, very comfortable, smooth ride, and well built. It has a sleek and sporty look that cant be beat and handles the road like a champ.

This ios a ggod step up from the previous model. The V-8 engine makes a difference. Smooth running. It looks better than most mid-size SUVs in it class. Good buy for the money. Good chose when you consider the GX470 is $15,000+ , same frame and ride.

Having upgraded from a 95 4Runner to a 03 4Runner, this is a completely different vehicle! Its incredibly comfortable, solid, a joy to drive. It even tells me when it needs an oil change! You will love this car.

  • Best Car Ive Ever Owned - 2003 Toyota 4Runner

As others have opined as well, this is the best car I have ever owned as well. At over 203,000 miles, it still runs better than some other SUVs Ive owned have at 50,000. Have had no mechanical issues, and have only performed routine maintenance. The Edmunds reviewer who placed the lack of a third row seat as a con is a fool. An SUV isnt a mini-van/people mover first. It is a utility vehicle first, and cargo capacity is a higher priority than carrying over 5 people! With the rear seats folded down, which they do completely, there is a ton of storage capacity in the 4Runner. Not sure what compact SUV he was comparing to, but Ive never seen one that has half as much capacity.

  • Best Mid-Sized SUV - 2003 Toyota 4Runner

After six months, even more impressed now than when I first drove it off the lot. Noticed an extremely worded post regarding the sulfer smell. With the rear window down during hard starts (hard to resist with the V8 models), residual exhaust can enter the cabin. The effect is very short and vents out quickly. It is not a serious problem, very common to other similar vehicles with rear windows that lower. (a bigger concern if heavy loads are in tow and vehicle is being driven very hard. If so, simply keep the window up!) Only issue involved rattles from sunroof - dealer 100% corrected in 1.5 hours using the TSB from Toyota.

Chose the 4 Runner by accident. I was looking into buying a Honda Pilot or Nissan Murano, however I had not researched the 4Runner because I wasnt aware of the major model change for 2003. Was negotiating a deal on the Murano and just happened to stop by the Toyota dealer next door and looked at the 4Runner. I test drove both the V6 and V8 models and was sold on the V8. The Honda Pilot and their dealers were wanting MSRP and no deals, Nissan was dealing fairly well, however I was able to get this for about $800 below invoice and 2.9% Financing.

This is a great truck, I am very impressed with the power, transmission and smooth ride. Since the day I purchased the truck, Ive enjoyed driving it. I especially like the stereo, which is 6 CD in dash, a nice feature and it sounds great. Another nice feature is the auto lock rear tailgate and the double deck cargo area. Would recommend this car to anyone! The only poor feature is the headlights, not much output. I added an HID upgrade kit from CATZ HID to fix the problem, also, not enough headroom with sunroof if you are 62" or taller.
