  • An SUV w/ Car ride and performance - 2003 Toyota 4Runner

I am absolutly pleased! I test drove many cars and SUVs, but the first time I drove the new 4Runner I was sold. Best value by far! The V8 is silk w/ the auto 5 speed. I shopped on-line and multiple dealers prior to buying and got my SR5 w/ appearance pkg, V8, roof rack for $26.5K, great experiance! Only complaint is that all doors do not automatically unlock when exiting. All in all this is my first Toyota and it make me wonder why I have not bought one before now

  • American car Gliches? - 2003 Toyota 4Runner

16 years of toyotas and they seem to be finally be leaning toward the American needs and wants. Conveinances are much better and exciting for and old truck. Nothing carries over from the old 4runner to the new exept the quality and the dependiblty. Proud to drive althought they are still dealinging with 1st year bugs they cannot fix. Yes the 6cyl engine pully and belt rattle and sqeak at warm up and the manual drivers seat will loosen its play till it throws you out of it. But these are minor fixes to the great 4runner badge.

  • Love it! - 2003 Toyota 4Runner

I bought this car w/121,000 miles on it - I use it basically for winter driving and to tow our boats, sea-doos etc. - I have a summer car - but you know what - I prefer an SUV. It now has 131,000 on it and I hope, hope, hope it lasts for 300,000 miles...!! :) V8 power is great, gas mileage, well its a v8, what can I say, but thats ok - I dont know about the snow yet, will be my first winter w/it but sure it will be just fine. - need to learn about downhill assist and vsc.

  • Test Drive Thoroughly Before Buying - 2003 Toyota 4Runner

A extraordinarily disapointing purchase given the "Toyota quality" premium inherent in the cost. My vehicle is not up to the norm, Id not buy again. Potential buyers should test drive on all road types. Theres a problem (not in all, but lots of local reports) with intermittent overhead rattles. The moonroof weatherseal doesnt lie flat in about 1 in 4 local vehicles surveyed. (New seals arent sold, you replace with a whole new moonroof -- and gut the interior to do it -- my replacement arrived worse than the first). Bottom line: Buyer beware - search for a "good one" (they exist, but so do problems).

  • BAD AC unit on this year 4runner - 2003 Toyota 4Runner

$3000.00 fix for parts and labor @ Toyota dealer to fix AC/Heat relay and blower related problem. Dont buy any 4runner from the late 90s to 03. Problems with AC unit, Heat, clutch relay, not cheap to fix at all. Problems are recurring too. 2004 and newer are fine. Other than those problems listed, this SUV would of been GREAT.

I ve been searching for an SUV for almost 5 months. Finally I ve decided to buy a 4Runner Limited V8 2WD 5S.A.. So far I think is a great "car". I cant call it a truck nor an SUV, because it rides like a car. I am very happy with it and this vehicle is definitely a keeper.

Although the 4Runner does have some faults, I truely enjoyed its driving experience. I find the V6 engine to be more than enough power. The power and available options are what sold me when first looking at this SUV.

  • Worth the money - 2003 Toyota 4Runner

Had it for 30 days/2K miles and very happy thusfar. Good power for a V-6, nicely appointed inside & out, very solid. Nice to have an inventory to choose from, too (unlike the Pilots)! Gas mileage has been pleasantly tolerable (18.5 - 20 mpg). My only complaint is, why do five 4Runners sitting side-by-side on the dealer lot have 5 different makes of tires? I got Dunlops but wanted the Michelins on the almost identical vehicle right next to it. Dealer wouldnt budge "for legal reasons". So far, extremely pleased & would recommend it highly. Unless youre definitely towing something, save yourself some money and dont pay extra for the V-8. The V-6 is plenty.
