Overview & Reviews
For 2003, Suzuki has updated the Grand Vitara XL-7's dash and console with wood grain trim, chrome accents and a 12-volt accessory outlet. Other additions to the interior include a new seven-speaker system, integrated audio and cruise control buttons on the steering wheel, an adjustable center armrest with CD storage and smaller rear headsets for better rearward visibility.
Suzuki has also changed some of its trim names for 2003. The previous "Standard" trim has now simply become the XL-7, while the "Plus" has become the XL-7 with the option of third-row seating. The "Touring" model has been dropped all together. The Limited model is now being offered with a six-disc in-dash CD changer. Finally, a Limited model with the third-row option is also available with climate control and a rear air conditioning switch.
- Affordable base price, competent on- and off-road handling, optional seven-passenger seating, stylish design.
- Cramped second- and third-row seating, side airbags not available.

Another stop to fill up - 2003 Suzuki XL-7
By 1TheMacs - November 16 - 2:00 amI like this small SUV for the price. I had to look a long time to find one without the 3rd seat. The 3rd seat doesnt fold flat.

By Jen Conlin - February 20 - 10:00 amThis is the best ride Ive ever been in. I enjoy the fact that I feel like Im riding on air. I barely feel the bumps on the road, the engine is quiet and I enjoy the comfort that the vehicle provides.

All good but the 4wd - 2003 Suzuki XL-7
By giraffedan - December 11 - 3:49 pmIt is overall very reliable, and works well. Power wen I need it, fuel efficient for its size when i baby it. 4wd on the other hand failed. My mom complained about the 4wd for years and mechanics said thats just how suzuki 4wds work. I finally brought it to the Suzuki dealership where they said the same thing. i asked them to just take a look. Their senior mechanic said he has never seen a 4wd fall apart like that. He said it would cost at least $800 just to take it apart and see what is wrong. Only other complaint is that the belt they used is too skinny so it squeaks every morning if it is under 40 degrees. If the 4wd still worked it would be a perfect car. Suggestions would be great

Good but could be better - 2003 Suzuki XL-7
By plazmaman - June 8 - 10:00 amThis SUV is really fun to drive and looks great too. All around solid vehicle makes it a super value. The creature comforts in the Limited are nicely done and the third row seats are great to pack in a few more rugrats.

First Suzuki - 2003 Suzuki XL-7
By 4u2nv - May 22 - 2:00 amFirst time Suzuki owner. It has plenty of power and is fun to drive. Only been back to the dealer for a seat belt replacement. Would not retract. Lots of snow in this area. No problem with this baby getting around. Shift to 4 wheel on the fly is super. Would buy another one in a minute.

Best Car Ever! - 2003 Suzuki XL-7
By Tina G - March 19 - 3:30 pmIve had my Suzuki XL7 for 7 years and have put 223,000 miles on it. In that time, Ive only had one minor repair! The body has held up as well as the engine. This car is comfortable, looks great and is the most reliable car Ive ever owned. Hoping to get another 100,000 reliable miles out of it :)

My suzuki X-L7 - 2003 Suzuki XL-7
By crach - November 26 - 2:00 amThe car runs smoothly on both highway and local roads. Is able to easily acellerate onto highways. Has no problem in snow, we had a bad winter last year one storm was over 30" our XL- 7 never got stuck. Gas milage could be better it gets around 15 miles/gallon around town, 19/gallon highway. Its had two recalls both were quickly repaired by the dealer. I love the ABS braking, its worked well on slippery rain slicked roads.

Great Little SUV - 2003 Suzuki XL-7
By jack wright - June 19 - 5:00 pmMy Suzuki is the best 4WD SUV that money can buy. I bought it used with 10,000 miles on it and know have 50,000. It has a trailer hitch, factory, and pulls my motorcycle great even in the mountains. Its off road performance is excellent. The factory tires, Brigestones, are only fair and lasted 30,000 miles. I found a worthy cheap replacement Kumos at only $350.00 for four. Its reliability has been excellent.

Could be better - 2003 Suzuki XL-7
By Lesley385 - April 21 - 2:00 amNice fully loaded SUV; however, too expensive when considering the poor gas mileage. Ive had one idiot run into the side of me and I barely felt a thing. He was going 45 mph when he hit, so if you have kids you can rest easy that theyll be safe.
