  • Maximum Value - Solid Car - 2010 Subaru Outback

Ive driven this vehicle now for 9 months. Solid vehicle in all respects. Im not sure about "fun to drive", but for a vehicle with this power and height, I believe it handles extremely well! Cabin is much quieter than prior Subies weve owned, and the cloth interior (my prior experience was with leather) has been a very pleasant surprise. Car is sure footed in winter weather, and the only time I couldnt move (on the stock tires) was trying to climb a steep driveway with 6-8" of snow already on the pavement. Finally, despite prior reviews which panned the standard sound system, I find that mine is perfectly fine for casual listening on the road. Options such as XM radio were pricey.

  • Not a Station Wagon Anymore! - 2010 Subaru Outback

The requirements for a new car to replace our 1997 Outback was not to have an SUV nor CUV, but a wagon with 5* safety and AWD. Well, we ended up with the 2010 Outback, which is a combo of all three. Little did we know after we brought car home and seeing it in our garage, this is a large CUV/smaller SUV, not the usual Outback wagon. It is huge and if you are against SUV/CUVs, this is not your vehicle. Not sure how we will deal with driving an SUV, as it seems OK, but, it feels like I am driving a tank. I am also shocked to read neg comments on roof rack.

  • Need better seating - 2010 Subaru Outback

Teenager driver wrecked our Grand Cherokee and we wanted good visibility, all wheel drive, heated seats and economy in replacement vehicle. Five months with Outback and wife still says every day "I love my car." Mileage hasnt been as good as wed hoped, but the style, access, build quality and utility of the vehicle are perfect. Of course, im comparing it to a 13-year old jeep, but handling is quick and fun. It leans a little in cornering. Car runs down the highway like an eager hound with no complaint except for fear we might stop. I just feel smart in this car, like I made the right choice after much searching and pondering.

  • Outback after 9 months - 2010 Subaru Outback

Bought the Outback in late Sept 09 looking for reliable inexpensive AWD transportation, expecting some frozen precip here in WNC. Read existing reviews, and found a couple of very negative comments about the standard sound system (which I bought anyway) - otherwise very positive reviews to that point. Overall, Ive been VERY pleased with the car, which now has just over 8K miles on it. I added the XM Radio (which I wouldnt be without these days) and after listening to it for 9 months, I still dont understand the complaints about the standard sound system - mine is very acceptable. On recent trips, I got about 30 mpg. The CVT is great, and the H4 is very adequate for day to day use.

  • Excellent Choice... 2 yrs later - 2010 Subaru Outback

I have had my 2010 Subaru Outback since August 2009..... still one of the best, trouble free cars I have owned. Previous to this I had a VW Touareg and a SAAB 95 Wagon. The Outback feels more solid and I have only had to take it into the shop for regular servicing..... meanwhile the others spent more time in shop than out of it. Definitely a quality product! I wish I had got leather seating but, thats my fault not Subarus.

  • Love Our Subie - 2010 Subaru Outback

First time owners of a Suburu. We love how quiet it is! Handles great in the snow. Driver side very comfortable. Need 8-way passenger seat! Would also like to see memory driver seat, heated steering wheel, lighted Home-link buttons, and folding mirrors. Love it.

  • Im back to Subaru - 2010 Subaru Outback

I had two prior Subarus that got up to 185,000 miles before any problems. In 2008 I needed a new car and bought Toyota Highlander because I did not care for the suabru designs. Traded for 2010 Outback and love it. Have only 900 miles so far, but handles like only a Suabru can with its AWD. My daughter drove it and now shes thinking of buying one, although she wants to go with the 6 cylinder.

  • 2010 driving Outback - 2010 Subaru Outback

I bought 2.5 outback. The car lost its charm. Its not fun to drive, it feels underpowered, hard to park, heating system still needs improvement. My Subaru used to be a poor mans BMW. Now its an old man wagon. Im not going to buy any more Outbacks.

  • Beautiful car - 2010 Subaru Outback
    By -

I like quite a few things about the car. I am actually getting 28.5mpg (75% highway & 25% city with very careful driving). The vehicle is comfortable. CVT transmission is really smooth. I am enjoying the drive. I used to drive Maxima before (265 HP), but I am happy with this. The interior looks beautiful, but some of the materials are cheap, can scratch very easily and I am sure will rattle soon. Wish they could have used better materials, especially when I paid $2800 for it. The seats are comfortable, but wish they were little thicker (would be more comfortable). The door lock knobs are a bit weird. Dont know if they are closed or open. And the locks dont unlock when you park the car.

  • poor redesign of oil drain plug washer - 2010 Subaru Outback
    By -

first oil change - get oil on garage floor. think its carelss cleanup. several weaks later - still fresh oil. back to dealer - and its the crushable washer/gasket thatr was not seated correctly and/or overtorqued. told it needs to be replaced each time. seem to confirm on various web sites. design looks like the pull tab on a pop- top can. done to save money or enrich subaru dealers. either way it stinks.
