Im very happy to have a new car after driving the last one for 12 years. However, I thought once I got a new car all that engine noise would stop. Not the case with my new car. It is a little louder than I expected. I called the dealer and they said it was normal with CVT and the OB. I hope it stops soon, or I get used to it. Other than that I LOVE IT! It is a beautiful car and very comfortable. My friends and family liked it so much they are all looking to get one. Feel of luxury with a great price!

Nothing like this car on the market. Yes, theres other all wheel drive crossovers cars on the road. Nothing compares as versatile. Perfect car for a small family. Adj: Roomy, Luxurious, Sporty, Safe, Solid, Smooth, Design, Extremely Happy

  • Great Car! - 2010 Subaru Outback

I had always liked the previous model of the Outback but wasnt sure about the new one. My son recently had back surgery and had a hard time getting into the low doors of the old Outback, so when we tried out the 2010 model we were thrilled to see that the access was no issue for him. This vehicle is comfortable and very satisfying to drive. The mpg is great with the CVT, but when you need power it is there. We recently drove the vehicle in the mountainous SW Pennsylvania region and had no trouble going up and down the roads. The overall mpg was still just over 27, which is incredible for a vehicle this size with AWD. I hope to have this vehicle for many years of safe, happy driving.

After owning Hondas for 23 years I decided to to purchase something else. What a difference in quietness. I feel like Im driving a Lexus. Paddle shifters are great for mountain driving and the boxer engine has good power while providing good MPG. CVT Trans is smooth but takes a while to get use to if you have never driven one. Overall one of the best if not the best values in its class for your hard earned money.

  • A different Subaru wagon - 2010 Subaru Outback

I test drove the Ltd w/ 4 cyl. I was impressed w/ the new look, the pick up, the extra leg room on the 2nd row. However, I had an issue w/ the headrest. It pushes my head forward and gives me an uncomfortable feeling. I was told that once the seat was adjusted correctly, the headrest issue would go away. Overall, I like the car a lot, just hope that Subaru would have a better financing program and/or rebate and/or dealer incentive.

  • Nice, but many cheap aspects - 2010 Subaru Outback

Have had car for 1 month now and overall its a reasonable vehicle. The 2.5l engine seems fine for most uses and the handling is good for a vehicle this size. Interior has many inferior aspects that really detract from enjoying this car. I expect these will be improved in subsequent model years... I wish I had waited. Base stereo system is terrible, and Im not an audiophile. Eyeglass holder is hard plastic and anything placed inside rattles which is annoying.

  • Underpowered car, slow, ok design - 2010 Subaru Outback
    By -

I have purchased the car and have put 2000 miles on it so far. My initial thoughts: This is underpowered and a slow car. I am not expecting 0-60 in 3 sec but 11 seconds is too slow especially when merging on the highway. I wish all exterior colors would come with dark interior but no, only few (not my type). Also some rattling noise is coming out of the dashboard, not a big thing but can be annoying. The factory roof rack is very flimsy, bad design. On the positive side. The car is roomy on the inside. Seats are very comfortable. All the interior features are functional and placed correctly. Not sure if I had to do all over again if I would buy the same car. Look at other options as well.

  • Mileage update - 2010 Subaru Outback

I have only 2,100 miles on this vehicle, but my first driving impression was really rewarding and it has only improved. the mileage is excellent, average 30.5 with my highest at 34.1. This fill up i exceeded 504 miles and still had 1.5 gallons left. The car is very solid and it is really great on the highway. It has every useful feature you need, with no unnecessary, frivolous add-ons. I am really impressed with the handling. I just dont understand why previous owners are not happy with the additional room and the new style. I think it is great looking and performs flawlessly. It even has lights under the doors to light the ground. How cool is that.

  • The 4cyl. is strong enough - 2010 Subaru Outback

This car fits my lifestyle. I have two children in car seats and at least one bicycle in/on the car at any time. Living in the NE I also have to deal with snow so I wanted AWD. The price and gas mileage of the 4cyl. looked amazing but I had strong reservations about getting that model as I live in an area populated with short but very steep hills. Then I took a test drive. The 4cyl. with CVT suits my needs perfectly. It is not a race car but there is always ample power for any situation. No problem driving up hills with 15-20% grades. Outside of the engine, the car feels solid and grips the road in a very reassuring manner. It is an excellent family hauler for the dedicated weekend warrior

  • Overboard on safety issues - 2010 Subaru Outback
    By -

This is my first Subaru and I was attracted by the redesign. Overall, I like the car, but dont LOVE it like I loved my past VWs. The GPS system cannot be programmed while the car is moving, not even by a passenger. So, if Im driving and need to change course, even by simply pressing a button for a previous destination or home, the car has to come to a stop, which means pulling to the side of the road if on the highway. Also, there is very limited iPod control when the vehicle is moving. You can change songs on a playlist, but cannot change the playlist while moving, forcing me to unplug my iPod to change lists and then plug it back in, or pull over. That seems MUCH safer...
