  • Gas Hog & Dangerous - 2015 Subaru Forester
    By -

I just bought this car. After driving Subarus for 25 years I thought this would be the car to have. Wrong. This car is a total gas hog. The transmission has a real safety issue. The automatic transmission does not slow the car down... it kicks out of gear instead. My old Subaru stayed in gear when I backed off the throttle and slowed the car down on ice. This new Forester requires breaking to slow the car. The last thing you want to do on ice is hit the breaks!

  • Very nice car - 2015 Subaru Forester

I live in the mountains of Colorado and I am very pleased with my new Forester. It currently has roughly 5500 miles and I purchased it in July, 2014. I think it handles great and I feel very confident when driving it up and down the interstate in the mountains. It has also has plenty of power when heading up over the continental divide. I average 29.1 mpg combined driving. I have not noticed any unusual oil consumption (in fact, the dip stick showed the same level as when it was purchased). Although not necessarily intuitive, once we learned how to use it, the radio/navigation system works fine. We have not had a single problem with it. I have noticed, it will rev a little high under load.

  • My 1st Forester - 2015 Subaru Forester

Im overall very happy, but truly not head over heals. Initial throttle is a bit too anxious; it launches forward just pulling out of parking spot or at a red light, so Im training myself to press lightly on the pedal. Front seats: comfortable but wish they were deeper, they lack side support. Biggest disappointment: sound quality; its a Limited so I thought it would have been better. Sound mainly comes from lower front doors; sounds tinny & the bass response is awful. I repeat my favorite songs & Ive loved how my tunes sounded in my previous Jetta & Sorento (with base audio pkg) deep base and balanced in mid to high volumes, w/ Forester bass gets weaker & speakers crackle as vol goes up.

  • Early warning to potential buyers. - 2015 Subaru Forester

Want to warn potential buyers of two issues, either of which makes us regret we got this car. First, the ride is rougher than a Model T rumble seat. Yes, Ive been there. Every road you thought was smooth turns into an uncomfortable roller coaster ride. I dont know what the cars designers were thinking. Second, using a thin pillow on the rock hard passenger seat disables the air bag. The manuals answer is for people who need a pillow to sit in the back seat. So, hopefully not, but if your mate has a medical issue, theyre supposed to ride in the back seat. The 2007 Forester we traded in was a far superior vehicle. Test out the 15 on various roads!

  • Death trap on ice - 2015 Subaru Forester
    By -

I have lived in wyoming-nebraska all my life and driven on snow packed-icy roads with many different cars...rear wheel, four wheel drive cars as well as pickups. The Subaru forester is the worst vehicle I have ever driven in my life on ice. You have absolutely no control-it feels like you are floating all over the road and if you go anything over thirty mph.....you are totally out of control. Shame on you Subaru for claiming to share the love....this car will end up killing people who trusted your company for designing safe cars!

  • Annoying rattle and Awful tires - 2015 Subaru Forester
    By -

1,500 mile review: Traded-in my 10 year old CR-V with no complaints or rattles other than fishtailing in the snow without beefy tires. I had a 1998 Forester that was fantastic in the snow. My 2015 is 100% scary to drive in the snow with the factory Geolanders. Been thru a blizzard and several storms all white knuckled, sliding, stuck going up driveway. Tires will be replaced asap. I also have an annoying rattle coming from the moonroof since 24 hours of ownership. Dealer cant figure it out. The heater is weak and is impossible to regulate. Otherwise, the ride is smooth, beautiful exterior, roomy interior, comfy seats, no blind spots, and MPGs are great even in the frigid northeast.

  • 12k Update - 2015 Subaru Forester
    By -

Having logged over 12000 miles and driving thru various terrains and road conditions, I am still very satisfied with my Forester. The CVT does take time to get used to its power band. If you live in an area with hills and 2 lane roads, suggest you get the turbo. For most driving conditions, the non turbo model works fine. I have noticed gas mileage will dramatically change with terrain and driving habits but overall mileage as expected. I had no issues driving in snow. X mode worked as advertised. I suspect other reviews that complained about performance in snow were probably driving on ice and no vehicle is safe on ice. I have found this vehicle safe, economical and very functional.

  • Could be happier - 2015 Subaru Forester
    By -

2015 Forester XT with Eyesight. Eyesight has some good features but could be better, slams on the brakes when a vehicle traveling in the same direction makes a right or a left turn, when gate arms rise up. The remote start only starts from 30 ft / 10 meters because it uses the same antenna in the car as the door opener and because this car has Eyesight.. not happy been a cold winter and I Live in Michigan, may as well not have it if I have to go outside to start it. body/hood is a bit flimsy. I liked my GL-10 better. Dident need or want a sun roof.

  • Ill drive. - 2015 Subaru Forester

I did a lot of research before purchasing a new car and liked the performance, safety, and value the Forester offered. My prior car was a 1997 Jeep Cherokee (6 cylinder) that I loved. In terms of modern amenities, any new car would be a change, but I worried about missing the power and off-road ability of the Jeep. The Forester is great on ice, slush, snow, blowing snow, etc. It feels stable and peppy. Although I can tell it is working hard when going uphill, it doesnt feel sluggish. I wasnt sure how much Id use the X-Mode and Hill Descent Control, but they were handy when we got 14 inches of snow over a layer of ice. Its comfortable and I enjoy driving it.

  • Our second XT , just as good as the first! - 2015 Subaru Forester
    By -

Weve had this car for 8 weeks, bought to replace our 2004 XT. Its astounding how far technology and design has improved. The car is so much more comfortable than the 2004 , especially for 4 passengers. The Forester greenhouse has been preserved, which makes it one of the easiest cars to drive. The Eyesight system , with adaptive cruise control, object detection and automatic speed reduction works extremely well and very smoothly. The ride is a bit hard, not unexpected in a AWD small SUV with lots of ground clearance and sport rims and tires. The touchscreen MMI is simply awful...I cant believe Subaru fell short on this while doing so well on everything else.
