This Year's Model Updates:

Subaru's well-regarded Forester crossover sport-ute has been completely redesigned to be an even more enjoyable addition to your family. Engineers have given the tall wagon more interior room, a stiffer body structure, a revised chassis and more standard feature content -- all while keeping exterior dimensions the same and reducing the curb weight by 90 pounds.

Pros:
  • Standard all-wheel drive, availability of upscale features, high safety scores.
Cons:
  • Only one engine choice, price can be higher than most of the competition.

  • More than OK - 2003 Subaru Forester

Handles great, especially in snow and on ice though I did put on dedicated winter tires. Replaced my Ford Explorer due to rising gas prices. Drive 50 miles or more per day, no problems in over a year. Accceleration OK, gateless shifter a plus when getting up to speed in a hurry. One issue, auto setting on temp controls not very useful in extreme cold or heat, takes too long to compensate. Works well the rest of the time.

  • Where are the cup holders - 2003 Subaru Forester

Bought 2003 for my wife in Dec. She loves. Great in our icy, snowy climate. Wish gas mileage was better considering a 4 cyl. Needs better cup holders. Nice ride and handles great. This is out 1st Suby, will let you know more later as it only has 1300 miles at this point.

My kids enjoy it as much as i do. The two boys have the knack of closing the door with just enough force to get that solid german door sound (they are 3 and 4 yrs old)interior design appealing and comfortable, engine healthy (the engine growls nicely), sound sys. nice n clear, handles nimbly at reasonable speeds, more than sufficient power for a 4 cyl, after 2K miles i still walk around my forester the "long way" and drool

  • Perfect Car! - 2003 Subaru Forester

My Subaru Forester is the perfect car for my needs. We live in a rural area with winding, hilly hard top roads. I drive over an hour one way to work in all kinds of weather. My Forester handles like a dream, provides excellent visibility and really hugs the curves. My last car was a Jeep Grand Cherokee and I much prefer the Forester--I feel like I am driving a really nice car, but have all the benefits of the Jeep and feel safer.

  • Every Camper Needs One - 2003 Subaru Forester

Bought it at invoice May 27th and been lovin it ever since. We took it camping to Yellowstone with 4 adults (~2900 mi)and it performed well off and on-road (30 mpg average with a cargo box!). The engine seemed a tad winded on very steep grades. Handles great even in tight curves and with a fully loaded cargo box! We took it places where no regular wagon would ever dream of going. The only thing it didnt do was make hot chocolate for us while we watched a wolf pack at 6 am!!

I purchased the car back in February, just in time for the snow! It handles wonderfully. Also, Im just under 5 feet tall and can see perfectly out of this car. No problems with the car so far. Intend to keep for a long time. Also, had a great experience with the dealership.

  • Never thought wed.............. - 2003 Subaru Forester
    By -

Never thought wed own a Subaru. In fact, Subaru wasnt even on our radar screen until we checked safety ratings. I went from a Durango to the Forester and I can honestly say that my wife and I love this car, er, SUV, er crossover, er, whatver they want to call it! Anyone looking Id say go to the Subaru dealer and just buy one! Its a great car year round, but especially in rain or in winter. Can fit plenty of things inside. Our Forester just plain works. Were now thinking of eventually replacing my wifes car with a Subaru. Were glad we discovered how good they are.

  • Well designed and constructed - 2003 Subaru Forester

This car was perfect when I test drove it and picked it up at the dealership. Unlike past purchases from GM dealerships there were no flaws or mechanical things in need of correction. The cars 4 wheel drive system gave exceptional performance during these past winter months. The standard features that came with the car and its comparatively low price make it the best deal Ive had in many years.

  • Only Subaru - 2003 Subaru Forester

This is my fourth Subaru and I love them. Picked up my new Forester today and I love it too. It is the perfect size. I almost got a CR-V, but its too big and trucky, sits a little too high. The Forester is perfect. Drives like a car and still has plenty of room for all my stuff. Subaru cars have been super reliable. You cant go wrong with one of these cars.
