  • Great except for comfort - 2016 Subaru Forester

I just traded in a 2012 Subaru Forester for a 2016. I always said that the Forester was a perfect car and I never wanted to have another car. I may have to amend my review after driving the 2016. It drives great, but the drivers seat is really uncomfortable. The seatbelt buckle comes up really high and is made of very hard plastic. It jabs you in the hip the whole time you are driving. I have had my car for over a month now and it bothers me as soon as I get in the car and the whole time I am driving. I have tried stuffing wash cloths in between the seat and the seatbelt to push it away and wrapping a washcloth around the buckle with rubber bands to soften it, but nothing works very well. The ride is great, but whats the point if the seat is so uncomfortable? There are a couple of other minor things wrong with it. First is the placement of the gas pedal. The sides of the center console do not go straight down, they flare down the side, encroaching on the space for your foot to reach the gas pedal. This is OK for a women wearing a dress shoe, but if you are wearing a shoe with a wide base, like a tennis show, you have to turn your foot sideways to reach the gas pedal because it is somewhat behind the console. Its not very ergonomically correct. The last complaint I have is about the satellite radio. The display was terrible on the 2012 and the 2016 is much improved, but it could be a lot better. I dont know why Subaru is so resistant to developing a decent satellite radio for their cars. The display is still limited. And since it has XM equipment, if you "upgrade" to having access to the Sirius channels, every time, you turn on the radio, it jumps back to the "preview" channel, which is super annoying. I ride with people who own Fords and their radio has a robust display and seamless interchange between the Sirius and CM channels. The drive of the Forester is still great, but I dont know if I will continue to get them after my experience with the 2016.

  • Best car I have ever owned. - 2016 Subaru Forester

The Subaru Forester lives up to everything I have read and heard about them. Certainly a step above other SUVs in this class. The quality is better and comes with more options that would cost hundreds or more on the competitors vehicles. A great SUV for a great value.

  • Best in class - 2016 Subaru Forester

Tried the honda crv which has engine vibration at idle. Tried the rav 4 which was more expensive, cheap paper thin leather seats, and an annoying lip on the lower side of front passenger side. Rav 4 did have a super smooth transmission. The Forester had a quiet engine, a semi smooth transmission, and superior cabin noise insulating properties in which road sounds were muted and you can have a conversation inside without raising your voice. They are priced below competition, so not too much price reduction due to high demand and low supply.

  • Remote start max 30 ft range - 2016 Subaru Forester

If wanting remote start. Dont purchase a Touring model. Due to Keyless Access the remote start has a 30 ft range. Very old technology. The other non Keyless Access models have a 400 ft range. I have reached out to Subaru of America and they states receiving numerous complaints about remote start. But did not have a fix for the issue.

  • 2016 2.5i Premier SUBARU FORESTER - 2016 Subaru Forester

I am very pleased so far with my 2016 Forester with eyesight, leather, moonroof, navigation and bluetooth. The price was great at $20500 before taxes and fees. The car is comfortable. It takes awhile to get use to lane departure and eyesight braking warnings, as well as the controlled cruise control. The overall car is great. A technological marvel. I expect it to last me 10 years or more.

  • Will know more in 5 years - 2016 Subaru Forester

Weve owned the car for less than a month, so we cant rate any reliability categories, but it is comfortable with nice features and an almost reasonable price compared to other new vehicles in its class... of course, theyre all overpriced. Sure would like to see a warranty that matches the claims of reliability, like a 5 year 60,000 mile bumper to bumper.

  • Forester: Still learning - 2016 Subaru Forester

We had several car choices to tow behind our motorhome. We chose the Forester for quick handling, solid and quiet driving, power and interior room. We have 1000 miles on the vehicle now, still happy with the purchase.

  • 2016 XT Touring - 2016 Subaru Forester
    By -

Nice buying experience. The XT turbo engine offers plenty of power to carry 5 in the car and go up long steep roads. Interior road noise and wagon like ride however are below my expectations compared to an Audi SUV I also own. The cvt shifts quietly and smoothly. Visibility is great in this car. The anti-collision aide and lane departure aide alarms are toooooo quiet even when adjusted to the loudest setting. Audis alarm chimes loud like an elevator plus the dashboard blinks bright red which is what an alert should be like. The Foresters interior has a lot of cheap plastic buttons and panels, which surprised me because this XT is their most pricy model. At least let the consumer feel like hes getting his moneys worth in the high trim model. The rear seat recline doesnt even have a handle or button, it is just a nylon pull strap! I think the lower trim XT model at $26k msrp would be your best choice, unfortunately Navi is not even an option on that trim level.

  • Love, its what makes my Subaru a Subaru... - 2016 Subaru Forester

Do your homework; both Consumers Reports annual car review edition and Car and Driver research was helpful. Also, test drive the competitions products as well; for us, the Subaru Forester beat all the others when it came to visibility, ease of getting in and out, value, amenities and dealership relations...
