This Year's Model Updates:

The 2007 Subaru Forester lineup includes two additional trim levels, the Sports 2.5 X and Sports 2.5 XT, which offer a hip styling motif inside and out. In other news, all Foresters except the base 2.5 X model get an upgraded CD player with MP3, WMA and CD-RW capability. It's also Sirius Satellite Radio-ready and has an auxiliary jack for connecting handheld MP3 players. Additionally, the base 2.5 X gains electronic brakeforce distribution, while the Forester XT Limited gets standard 17-inch wheels. The front door panels in all Subaru Foresters now have bottle holders, and the base engine now meets the PZEV standard in California and the Northeastern states. Lastly, the turbo engine has been re-rated for 224 horsepower.

Pros:
  • Class-leading crash test scores, standard all-wheel drive, rides and handles like a car, powerful turbo engine.
Cons:
  • Tight legroom in the backseat, too much road noise at highway speeds.

  • Basic All-Wheel Drive - 2007 Subaru Forester

This car was great in the snow. It also could tow a small pop up with ease. If you like to camp or any out door activity this is the vehicle for you. I avg. 22.5 mpg city/hwy. The down side is road noise and ride, but it was the base model. It is a good work horse of a vehicle.

  • Not good gas mileage - 2007 Subaru Forester
    By -

I bought this car in July of 2007 and the combined city/road gas mileage was 24 mph. As of about 8000 miles, when it was supposed to be broken in and getting better gas mileage, it dropped to 17mph. I have had it checked and talked to the guys at the dealer only to be given a ton of excuses and suggestions. Like, use Premium gas, only use top of the line stations, mix the regular/premium gas and they couldnt come up with anything wrong with the car after checking the engine. Not only that, make sure you know the dealer service and dont let them over fill the oil. Mine was way over the fill line. Not happy with the SUB. Terrible carpeting and they wont replace it.

  • love it - 2007 Subaru Forester

I love this car. Got 8 inches of snow 1 week after I bought it, and it was great. Handles like a dream. Im over 6 foot and have plenty of room. Looks great too. I feel very safe in this car. Had a small S.U.V. before and was afraid it would tip over, not in my new Subaru. A very fun to drive car.

  • Great Car for the Price - 2007 Subaru Forester
    By -

This is a great car for the price (under $20K). It is fun to drive and it handles corners very well. The storage capacity is very reasonable for its small size. I love the AWD, but it does take getting used to if youve never had it before. Fuel economy is just ok (about 22-25 mpg), but it runs on regular gas which is a huge plus. I spent slightly more on my last new car (1995 Infiniti G20) and this one has nearly as many features. I looked at a lot of cars (Hondas, Toyotas, and luxury preowned) and the Forester is by far the best car for the price.

  • Love our car! - 2007 Subaru Forester
    By -

It out-performs and gives me more satisfaction than all the other cars Ive had before, including several Mercedes-Benzes, a Cadillac, Lincoln, Volvo, and Nissan. It has smooth handling, a great braking system, realistic road feel with its suspension, and excellent cargo space. The roomy interior is well-thought out with 8! cup holders, many storage areas, and just an overall superior design to those "luxury" cars. My wife, my adult daughter and I are in love with our Forester.

  • Nice Car - 2007 Subaru Forester

Ive had my Forester for almost a month, put on 750 miles, averaging 26.5MPG mixed highway and city. So far, Ive been pleasantly surprised by the handling and smooth ride. Ive owned Toyotas for 8 years previously and did not expect the Forester to drive as well but it compares very favorably. The interior finish is not as refined as my Toyotas were but its acceptable. Overall, its a solid vehicle with everything I need.

  • Defective - 2007 Subaru Forester

The Forester sounds like it has a 10 year old muffler on it. Cold starts and growling highway noise are the worst offenders. The Subaru Tech said they were aware of the problem and there is no repair or fix at this time. Ive been trying to get restitution from Subarus customer service for two weeks. They dont even call back. Never again Subaru!

  • Excellent Car. Still an excellent car. Still Great - 2007 Subaru Forester
    By -

The 2007 Subaru Forester is a great car. Solid, reliable, roomy, trouble free. I will buy another one. My car was rear ended and sent off to the shop. The Subaru people did a great job making it look like new. They missed replacing a key part and it was very unstable. Subaru said it was fine, but an independent shop spotted the problem and fixed it . The car runs like its brand new! Smooth and comfortable. Im going for 250,000 miles before I even think of trading it in for another Subaru. My 2007 Subaru is still running great. No problems. Wish all cars were made this well.

  • Dependable But Boring - 2007 Subaru Forester
    By -

This is my first Subaru, coming after a Volvo 740 wagon. It was a sensible, practical, safe, and affordable option as compared to the Honda CRV and Toyota RAV4. No mechanical problems thus far with the vehicle. The front seats are very uncomfortable for long distances due to the lack of thigh and lumbar support and passenger seat does not push back far enough. The engine is simply underpowered when merging onto the highway and even more so when the car is fully loaded. The backseat leg room is poor. Plenty of cargo space. The fulltime AWD reduces the gas mileage to around 20-22 mpg in mixed driving, but the drivetrain does inspire confidence in wet conditions.

  • Anywhere, Anytime - 2007 Subaru Forester

My wife picked out a silver 07 forester XT Sport with manual transmission. This is an Awesome SUV with an emphasis on Sport. We live in Maine and I work at a ski resort. We put snow tires on the subie and we do much better than many other vehicles. At the same time this car is FAST. The stick doesnt have VDC which is okay because the sound of 4 wheels screeching is a beautiful thing. The dogs love the large cargo area, and the luggage rack easily carries everything else. This car has been from Miami to Maine and has handled everything the way we wanted. If you are looking for a do-it-all funmobile - this is it.
