This Year's Model Updates:

The 2010 Subaru Forester gets mild equipment changes. Last year's Premium package is now considered a trim level and additionally includes a standard power driver seat. The L.L. Bean Edition trim level is no more, though it was actually discontinued midway through last year. The optional navigation system now includes Bluetooth connectivity.

Pros:
  • Standard all-wheel drive, roomy cabin with ample cargo space, comfortable ride, capable engines, excellent safety scores.
Cons:
  • Outdated four-speed automatic transmission, so-so fit and finish.

  • RattleTrap II in Eugene, OR - 2010 Subaru Forester

After all of the excitement we are very disappointed with this vehicle. Rattle/buzz from day 3. Moonroof rattle, both front doors buzz, cargo door rattle. Then to top it off, not just a drift but a continental shift to the right when one releases the steering wheel. We took video to document, Left lane of freeway to right lane without really wanting to change lanes. To say the least we are frustrated with this car. I drive for a living so I know all about rattles and buzzes, never suspected a brand new car . My 1988 BMW with 297K drives better and no rattles. The car has been in the shop 3 times since we got it 12/26/2009. Thank god it is a lease!

Despite all the hypes out there, I am very disappointed with our Forester. Runs well and icy and snowy roads here in Calgary, but the customer care is mediocre to say the least, and weve had series of issues after our first maintenance. Suffice to say, we went back to the dealer for repairs other than regular maintenance at least five times in the last four years. Thats a lot considering this is a brand new car. My 2003 Toyota Echo has been a much better value for us for $10K less than our Forester. We will sell ours shortly, and will not go back to Subaru again. (sorry sis... she works for Fuji Heavy Industries in Japan)

  • Nice truck but my last Subaru - 2010 Subaru Forester

Bought my first subaru in 2001 and it was perfect, rock solid till the day I sold it last week. The new replacement a XT sure looks nice BUT... Rattles something fierce and all over. The headlights wont work sometimes (had to shut the truck off and restart to get it working) windows software maybe?? The drivetrain makes bad noises when turning and the turbo (maybe) made a bad squealing sound for miles you first start the truck. I figured its under warranty let it blow up. The rear window for some reason wants to open with no one pushing buttons. The heater works in reverse. Have a small book for repairs. Will I buy another Subaru - I think Not. Too bad I didnt keep my old model, my fault.

the good - looks decent, good rear storage, lots of room for kids in back seat, decent towing capacity the bad - noisy engine, uncomfortable seats front, poor drink holders, well hidden heated seat controllers, stupid blue light over rear mirror, small controls for stereo and cruise. the ugly - the stereo is poor, but above all .... it RATTLES ! various cheap plastic components rattle under all conditions, the ceiling, the doors, the dash, the windows, the trunk, front heat deflector.

  • Not happy - 2010 Subaru Forester
    By -

First day-blue smoke came out of the tailpipe on startup. Salesman said it should disappear after few hundred mi. After 1 wk it was in service w/ 400 mi with the same problem. Subaru service MGR said "the blue smoke is normal and part of breaking in." Service changed oil & filter for an OC test. This brand new car still blows blue smoke everyday on cold start and even if its been sitting for few hrs. Been going to service once, twice, & even 3x/wk and service MGR keeps telling my that my car is "normal and its part of breaking in." I lose a lot of oil within a wk (1qt+) & still waiting for Subaru to do something. Service refuse to fix the car. 1st time buying new car & not happy with Subaru.
