  • Fabulous new, not so great as it ages - 2005 Scion xA

I loved my Scion xa when I first got it. Over the years it has had to have the bearing replaced, then entire transmission replaced, the Drive shaft was notched and needed replacement. And the front axle cracked and broke off. I am not sure if I got one from a bad batch, but I have never had this many problems with a Toyota, and I have owned several.

  • Not for everybody; great for me - 2005 Scion xA

Had it for two weeks now but I researched for over a year to decide on which car to buy. I wanted just a trendy, fuel-efficient car to "get me there." Nothing else comes close in this class of sub-$15k cars (why is it a sedan here?). And Toyota reliability -- enough said. I drive long distances on weekends and its great for that. Power/weight ratio makes it light and zippy. Feels very solid, steering is weighty and substantial. The ride is very bumpy, though. You feel everything on the road and it seems like nothing is dampened. I opted for the side airbags, which is an expensive option but better safe than sorry. Fuel economy is less than advertised; maybe 33 on the highway

  • Great little car - 2005 Scion xA

This has been a terrific little car. It gets great gas mileage (Ive been averaging 36 mpg in the city) and is lots of fun to drive. It also turns heads; Ive been stopped several times by strangers impressed by its looks. And the price is definitely right, particularly with all the standard features. I ordered cruise control (which the dealership arranged to have added through a third-party vendor) and an arm rest; I recommend both. On my first test drive I was concerned that the car might not have enough pickup for easy merging, but this hasnt been a problem. I couldnt be happier.

  • A lot for a Little - 2005 Scion xA

The Scion xA is the best all around city commuter car going. It gets great mileage with inspired looks. I look forward to keeping my Scion for years. I will continue to purchase the Scion line for as long as it continues to be made. Thanks Toyota - great job on the Scion line of cars.

Great auto, gets lots attention. People ask "what kind of car is it?"

  • Big on the Inside - 2005 Scion xA

After 13 years of very reliable service my Tercel bit the dust so I went to my Toyota dealer to look at the Corolla. I need something to get me to work and back and pick up two kids with car seats from day care. The salesman recommended that I look at the Scion xA since I had a Tercel. I assumed it would be too small for the car seats but I was wrong. They fit in the back seat easily. The hatchback design makes for enough room in the back to store a fair amount of stuff. The car is very fun to drive. The milage is great. Aside from the few suggested improvements listed below the car is awesome for the price and I am very, very happy I bought a Scion XA.

  • Great Car - 2005 Scion xA

I have loved this car since I first saw it. It is very customizable and looks great in the inside. The problem is the back is a little too small. Also, it doesnt have cruise control. I would love a moonroof or maybe a convertible top. Other than that, its very economical and fun to drive.

  • Car for all ages - 2005 Scion xA

We now have about 8,000 miles on our Scion xa. We purchased it to compliment two other vehicles and to save money on gas. Boy was I wrong. This car does, as advertised, save lots on cost of gas but it is fun to drive. We have three vehicles and the first person out the door in the morning always goes for the Scion. It is a great car, great investment, and a good decision. By the way, I am not a member of Generation X, I am 60+. Thanks Toyota. Geezers like a bargain too.

For those of you out there who want something more interesting than a Toyota or Honda, more reliable than a Mini or Volkswagon and less expensive than a Mazda3 - consider this little hatchback. In northern CA it was tough to locate b/c theyre in such high demand. Word of advice - if your local dealer doesnt have one, call other dealers in the area (we called a total of 5) since the salesmen arent keen on giving up inventory availability. In summary: gas/brake pedals are very responsive, quick accelleration, fits into smallest parking spaces, no fuss buying experience, great gas mileage, great way to zip around
