  • The "Lunch Box" - 2005 Scion XB

With a handle on top it would look just like a lunch box. I have driven it to work, (round trip 54 miles) and now have 36,500 miles on it. Averages about 33 mpg. It would be best in the urban runabout mode, but makes for a fine enough commuter. Took awhile to get used to the wheels out at the corners - ran onto a parked cars bumper and did $2K damage to the right side doors early on. Mine is an automatic and for the price theres little to complain about and lots to like.

I also have a very neat PT, the XB is right up there with it as far as ride quality and workmanship. It has surprising power, and handling. They are both fun rides and Toyota will really have a hard time keeping up with the demand, I lucked out and got a stick in green, its cool how the paint almost changes colors from Hunter Green to almost a metallic grey. Sound system is great too. The XB is a no-loose situation, bet I can drive it 2 years and break even...drive one...youll like it.

Ive had the XB now for about 2 months. I love it. Great on gas. Handles well and with sufficient power for a 4cyl. Ive gotten all sorts of funny comments. Most love it or hate it but all are fascinated. The interior is more roomy than most small suvs and wagoneers that I tested. Great car all around.

  • for the value - 2005 Scion XB

The most obvious characteristic of this car is the design. I have watched people gawking at it all over the place. When I tell them what I paid (14500, they are shocked assuming it was a 20K car. I still havent seen another one in my color (burgundy red) so the sense of uniqueness is lasting. Overall it is a great value, particularly in terms of the use of space and the less apparent features like stability control and traction control. Build quality is another asset. The car is not perfect, however, as Ill outline below but for the price and standard features, can one complain?

This car is lots of fun to drive, easy on fuel, and extremely roomy. I am over 6 feet tall and have plenty of leg room, and about 5-6 inches of headroom. Even with the seat adjusted rearward all the way, there is still plenty or legroom in the back seat. With the rear seats folded forward, the cargo room is plentiful. We love the car and we get lots of looks and good commenrts on the road.

The 2005 Scion xB is an awesome car. I just got back from an 1,800 mile trip over four days, and it was very comfortable. It hauled lots of stuff, and on the way back stretched out my 6 foot frame and slept well! It does get lots of looks, which is fine. People are constantly amazed at the roominess. To quote a friends son "Wow! Its huge!" this was after he got out of his Dads Escalade. It is fun to drive and zips around traffic. Its not a racecar, but its fun. The xB is easy to park and fits anywhere. It gets good gas mileage! I love the design - simple and straight forward. It has a great use of space. Did I mention all the room?

My Scion xB is fun and attention getting. We sleep in it for short campouts. It is so easy to get in and out of (we are in our 70s). It is everything we hoped it would be and has lots of features as standard. Plus is has tons of cargo room.
