  • Can It Replace a Camaro SS? - 2005 Scion XB
    By -

I bought my xB in MD after totaling my Camaro SS. I must have had a concussion, this is not my usual choice of car. I drove it 800 miles home to Alabama at freeway speeds and got over 30 mpg! I am now averaging +/- 34 mpg, up to 40. I added cruise-control. My only concern is the rough ride because of the lowered suspension and low-sidewall tires. I am considering putting the original springs back on it to improve ride. I may also mount 70 series tires on it for better comfort. This car is bulletproof. The upright windshield is a rock magnet though. Also a computer glitch has set a false check engine code, which the dealership in Alabama is trying to track down. All systems are OK.

The good qualities of the Scion Xb, lots of room and exceptional visibility remain. However, they are overshadowed by a harsh and noisy ride, and terrible gas mileage. Ive tried everything, and the best mileage I can squeeze out of this car is 27 mpg in the summer and a ridiculous 20 mpg in the winter. Also, cruise control isnt available and the interior lighting is poor.

This car has no side impact airbags. This car does not handle well over bumps in the road due to it being low to the ground.

The car handles well, even in strong winds. We get a very clear view of the road as the driver sits up above the dashboard. Our milage is about 29 - 30mpg. The Scion xB has plenty of storage for a smaller car and is very comfortable for passengers in front and back seats.

I love this car. It is so much fun to drive. It hugs the turns and has a lot of pick up. I have the manual 5 speed and it is so cool. I also have a Ford F-150 and now I dont want to even drive it. The sound system is awesome also. I am doing a lot of highway driving and it gets great fuel economy. Also parking in the city is easy with its compact size. With the back seats down there is a ton of room in the rear of the vehicle. I LOVE THIS CAR!!!

I bought my XB new in 2005 because I got tired of working on my previous car a Ford/Mazda Probe GT. Big change in terms of power and handling but I adjusted fairly easy. I find myself driving the XB HARD so I cant really complain about 28MPG, that being said, after 58K miles I have had not one single mechanical problem! I had a small chip in the windshield in the first month, used a "repair kit" and did not have to replace that until Jan of 2009. Getting ready to replace my 2nd set of tires. Lots of interior room, poor interior lighting, good seating position, good (not great) stereo. Buzzy on the highway, could use an extra gear, or "taller" 5th. Great value for the money! Paid 13,750.

I took the 5-speed xB for a test and found a little slack in the drive line, but being 72 now I figured I would be better off with the auto anyway, which is very smooth. I have always liked the "different" car, I owned several "Borgwards". But this box is surely my furthest venture from sanity. But since it is my bliss that matters...I dont have a problem using the cup holders that have been baded, better than most of the "in dash" type I have used. The speedo and info center took 5 minutes to get used to...Now I love it. Got 33.6 mpg on my first tank. 2/3 on Interstate 1/3 in town.

I just bought a Scion xB and it rules! They are more spacious than most SUVs and very cozy. The sound system is awesome, but the large inside consumes alot of sound. Wityh a not too impressive 150 watts i find myself wishing it could go louder. o well its a fun freaking car and...uhm well buy one theyre fun as shyt
