Overview & Reviews
After 12 long years in production, Saturn is finally retiring its aging S-Series sedan and coupe in favor of the all-new Saturn Ion sedan and innovative quad coupe.
- Innovative rear-access doors on coupe, customer-focused dealers, numerous personalization options, great cargo capacity.
- Build quality not up to segment standards, unusual styling, lack of established service and repair history.

Fooled by Good Looks - 2003 Saturn ION
By Fooled by Good Looks - November 2 - 7:23 pmMy husband and I fell in love with both the exterior and interior style of the all-new ION, especially the center-console gauge cluster. I told my husband that the seating was uncomfortable, but he said it would be better in leather. After a 1,000-mile round trip, we were both seeing a chiropractor (the rear seats are even worse). Ive asked the Service Dept. to fix the transmission problem twice (rough shifting between first, second and third gears), but the problem remains. The steEring wheel binds in cold weather, another problem Ive asked to have fixed two times to no avail. I cant wait to pass this car on to someone who can take seats made out of concrete!

Quiet,quick and responsive. - 2003 Saturn ION
By jimbob67 - August 11 - 2:00 amWe bought our Saturn Ion 3 in January. As far as reliabiliy 2 months is not enought time to fully judge, but so far no problems.. with anything. I like the smaller than usual steering weel which frees up room and contributes to the very responsive steering. The leather seats are nicley sewn dispite what I have read about the fabric seats. The 2.2l echotech 140 hp engine has plenty of power and does very well on the interstate. The automatic lighting is a plus and the 160 watt advanced audio kicks. The car could use wider leg room though.

Great Car for the $$$ - 2003 Saturn ION
By GaIon - August 6 - 10:00 amYou certainly cant ask for BMW performance in this price range, but for under $15,000 this car is great! More than adequate power, gas mileage, and comfort. Center console doesnt take much time to get used to. Only complaint is the electronic power steering is a little loose and is hard to keep going straight without constant adjustments.

1st Saturn purchase - 2003 Saturn ION
By MCGIRL - August 6 - 10:00 amI absolutely love my car. It is fun to drive. It gets noticed. Everyone has a comment about its unique styling, i.e. center mounted cluster bezel. My mom bought one within weeks of my purchase. However, be mindful of purchasing this car if you have children-especially big ones. I have 3. I can only transport two in the rear seat in car seats. With car seats in place, I cannot fit a 3rd person, even a small one in the rear seat. Although Ive got my sites on buying an SUV in the near future since Im doing most of the family transporting, I hope to hang on to this car as my "fun car".

More fun than any other saturns...! - 2003 Saturn ION
By Raj Sakthi - April 24 - 2:00 amTo keep it simple... Yeas An engine that jumps at your touch. Excellent low end acceleration( much to the dismay of many drag racers..!!) Above par fuel economy Price( Yes price..!! I got mine with full package for about 14.5 Gs...;) ) And of course dealership experience..! ( Me having a friend there makes it even better..! ) Neas Interier subpar and tasteless. Seats...GM penny pinched and made horrible seats Insulation...you can hear every conceivable road noise. Substandard body panel fittings Bottom line, ION is more fun than the traditional florida bound Saturn owners have ever dreamt of !!.

Fine With Me - 2003 Saturn ION
By Smookiepooch - March 30 - 5:03 amI bought my Saturn at the end of 02 and at 133,000 its still going strong. Ive had some problems recently but with that many miles its bound to happen. My blinker went out but that was a recall item so it was fixed for free. The only 2 major problems I had was my key got stuck in the ignition and my fan went out, fixed both for under $200.

Good Little Car - 2003 Saturn ION
By Kimberly1 - March 7 - 2:00 amI have been pleased with the performance of the Ion. It has a lot of nice features (big trunk, rear folding seats, speedometer is in the middle, etc). My biggest complaint about the vehicle is that the transmission slips (almost always) when you quicly accelerate while turning-- usually from a standstill while turning left--I do not know why this happens and I would like to know if there are any other Ion owners who have their transmission slip on them now and then. Thanks

Quad coupe - 2003 Saturn ION
By eyedoc2004 - November 10 - 10:00 amI bought this car in april. I was pleasantly surprised this vehicle. I still like it 8500 miles later. It has good performance, comfort, and convenience considery its economy car class. Its alot of car for what you pay for it and its practical and fun to drive. I drove a honda civic as well, and this car blows it away. Lots more power and interior room (im 6 3" and have plenty of head and leg room).

Different But Good - 2003 Saturn ION
By catbird1 - August 11 - 2:00 amWhen I initially looked at the new Ion I was not sure if I liked it as it was different as far as the interior and exterior designs. After the test drive I was impressed with the performance and ride and found the seats to be firm but comfortable. After 9,000 miles I continue to be well satisfied with the car and feel as if the center mounted gauge cluster is preferable over the conventional gauge cluster in my previous and other cars that I own.
