This Year's Model Updates:

After 12 long years in production, Saturn is finally retiring its aging S-Series sedan and coupe in favor of the all-new Saturn Ion sedan and innovative quad coupe.

Pros:
  • Innovative rear-access doors on coupe, customer-focused dealers, numerous personalization options, great cargo capacity.
Cons:
  • Build quality not up to segment standards, unusual styling, lack of established service and repair history.

We just bought a new ION to replace the my daughters SL1. (the SL1 provided 48,000 miles of economical and maintenance free driving). The ION has nice design; the composite panels are the best choice for a vehicle that will be parked streetside; and Saturns economical performance is hard to beat. We were pleasantly surprised with the quiet and smooth ride performance of the ION. At 70 mph is almost comparable to my 2002 A4. The added HP and torque makes the ION a well-rounded vehicle for fun, comfort and economy. I have to question the professional reviews Ive read as being biased and under-rating of the Saturn.

In the six months I had to only have the Daylight running lights replaced and the harnesses. I guess this is an unofficial recall. If a light goes out they fix it. Otherwise, they wont contact you to have it replaced. Price of the oil filter is double a normal filter. Steering is great. Much more pep than my old 96 SC1. No noticeable reduction of power when the Ac is on.

I have truly enjoyed owning this car. For the money its the best comuter car out there. Im very tall and I like the driver leg room. Never intended to put anyone in the back seat. No mechanical problems to date. The purchase process was fantastic. Its a little noisy on the highway but hey, you cant have it all for well under 20K.

I got my used 2003 Saturn with only 30, 000 miles for $9,500 at a local Saturn dealership back in 2007. The clerks were very friendly. I have to say that there are way more pros than cons for this car. Of course, I do not live in a very cold environment, so I do not have start up issues. Gas mileage with only 12.5 gallons is amazing. This car came with a battery, and for four years I did not replace it. I should have found out how old it was, because I recently got a new one. This sucker is tough! It would still start, and the alternator was in great shape. It is very crash-safety and is very smooth on the road.

Unique Styling for a compact car. More car for the price.

  • awful first experience - 2003 Saturn ION

when we bought the vehicle, it had to go back into the shop for: 4 new windows (due to the glass was scratched by the window tracks), defects in paint, interior dash was rattling, brakes were wobbleing (due to the rotors and brakes were out of surface tolerence), steering was shaky when driving at high speed. These problems were due because of the factory.

I just bought this car and I love it. Its fun to drive and looks great. Its a smooth ride and handles the road well. The dealership made the car buying experience easy. I will definitely buy another Saturn.
