  • Good for Big, Old Boys - 2003 Saturn ION
    By -

Im 62", over 200 lbs and 64 years old. I can get in and out of the ION easily and just completed a 2000-mile trip with one 9-hour-days journey. I was never uncomfortable or saddle- sore. The ION had all the power I needed on the turnpikes and on the hills with 32 mpg. I got my first speeding ticket in 20 years. Dang! My other cars a Miata.

  • Best coupe (and service) for the money! - 2003 Saturn ION

This car is fun, afforadable, and practical.

The ION is frisky and fun to drive. The ride is very composed---even at 80 mph. I achieved 30 mpg on my first tank of gas (half were highway miles). I was initially put off by the interior, particularly the center mounted instrument panel. It took me about 5 minutes to get used to it. I visited the Syracuse Auto Show yesterday and sat in a lot of cars. I was struck by the fact that I found myself thinking over and over again: “This car’s instrument panel is really strange. It is hidden behind the steering wheel.” I actually find myself preferring the center mounted instrument panel. It gives you a clear view and is kind of funky.

  • Great, Modern Car - 2003 Saturn ION

The ION is an excellent example of a modern ecomomy car. It has lots of power for a four-banger, the interior is surprisingly roomy, there are plenty of nice options, and everything seems to be of good quality. When driving it, youd think you were driving a small V6, not a four. With the DOHC engine and 16-valves, along with more than enough horsepower, my ION gets off stoplights quicker than most of my friends V6 equipped cars. With the independent suspension, it rides and corners nice. Overall rating-9.

  • First New Car - 2003 Saturn ION

This is my 1st new car purchased. The ride is nice and quiet, one of the best I have had in my 15 years on the road. The drivers headroom is insane. I am pushing 6-4 and I could probably sport a cowboy style hat and still have room <--*havent tried this* The leg room could be a little more generous, and I dont think there is any hope in getting a passenger to sit comfortably in the driver-side rear seat. The car does not seem to handle as well as some in the snow. The ABS/Traction control which may have offered me better performance. Otherwise the power and handling are great. It did take a little getting used to the tight turning.

  • I love my ION, but . . . - 2003 Saturn ION

Great gas mileage. Have driven it from coast to coast. It handles well in the mountains. It did hydroplane a couple of times. The where you put the fuel in should be re-engineered so that the gas nozzle stays in when filling the tank. Yesterday (10/18) nozzle slid out while filling my car with gas. Sprayed me with gas. Big mess. Thanks Saturn, I got a great deal on my ION, now maybe I can get a great deal on a new suit and shoes.

  • Grinding Steering Wheel!!!!!! - 2003 Saturn ION
    By -

First, the hood latch brook, so I was unable to check my oil or fill the windshield wiper fluid until it was fixed. Then I brought it in for a steering wheel grinding noise. The first time they told me they greased up the steering wheel. The sound was gone for about 2 weeks, but then it came back. I brought it back and they told me that “adjusted the steering column,” which I later found out isn’t even possible. Obviously, this didn’t work, so I brought it back. They told me they would grease up the steering column. When I told them they already did that and it didn’t work, they said “owe, it’s a new grease.” As I predicted, the noise is back.

  • all in all great value - 2003 Saturn ION

For the money I am very pleased. The interior appears too "plasticky", but other than that I love it.

  • Finally Unloading this Car - 2003 Saturn ION
    By -

Where to start...check engine light came on when I drove it off the lot, sensor problems..5th gear went out at 40,000 miles (a long/expensive fix), good luck if you live in a cold climate it will fail to start (for 15 minutes exactly) which is extremely inconvenient as youre sitting there in the freezing cold waiting for it, cooling system is totally shoddy and interior looks completely trashed from next to nothing. replaced wiper system twice. I will say that I get wonderful gas mileage, but its been nothing but problems along the way with this car. The ride is bumpy and loud and Im always waiting for something else to break. Im having to get rid of this car at only 85,000 miles.
