After 12 long years in production, Saturn is finally retiring its aging S-Series sedan and coupe in favor of the all-new Saturn Ion sedan and innovative quad coupe.

Pros:
  • Innovative rear-access doors on coupe, customer-focused dealers, numerous personalization options, great cargo capacity.
Cons:
  • Build quality not up to segment standards, unusual styling, lack of established service and repair history.

  • Good, cheap car - 2003 Saturn ION

I bought this car at the end of December, so far everyone whos seen it has liked the looks, and everyone whos ridden in it likes the performance and ride. I got it with ABS/traction control, A/C, and CD-Player. I have to say, its quiet, responsive, gets decent mileage, and has plenty of room. Reviewers have complained about uncomfortable seats, but I have to say I find them more comfortable than most car seats. I think this has to do with my 63" frame, and sitting in a seat that is molded to fit a 59" person like a glove does not work with my back.

  • Not really pleased... - 2003 Saturn ION

In the past year Ive taken my car into the dealership to have 6 different (major) things repaired. The ignition was replaced, the passenger side lower control arm had to be replaced, the turn signal wiring had to be replaced, the computer replaced. There was a fuel line recall, and the door lock collapsed into the door. Someone at the dealership told me to be grateful I didnt have the same problem another customer does, apparently her car just shuts down randomly as she is driving along and they cant figure out why. I dont have the trust in my Saturn that I had in the cars Ive had by other manufaturers.

At 2000 miles engine light came on. Took to dealer twice, second visit it was kept for three days. Turned out to be a screw had gone through wire in harness and had to be removed. No problems since.

  • Best small car, PERIOD!!! - 2003 Saturn ION
    By -

This car is simply the best small car out there for the money. I have 9,000 miles on my car and I absolutely love it! I drove a Honda Civic, no comparison! To sum it up, great quality, good power, fun to drive! Im not sure why this car has received such poor ratings from professional reviewers, but I am here to say they are wrong!

We bought an Ion to replace our 1993 SL1 that had 156K miles. We test drove the Ion and immediately fell in love. It was the only car we test drove.

  • ION 3 & ME - 2003 Saturn ION
    By -

I have only had my ION 3 for five days now but have had great fun with it. The ride is wonderful. Handling every turn and corner with ease. The cabin space is comfortable. And the dash is centered with a smaller stiring wheel, I am over 6 foot tall and that is great for not knocking my knees every time I get in. Over all ... I am very satisfied with my new car.

  • Good car, but needs Critical Improvement - 2003 Saturn ION

The Saturn 2 Ion handles well-- with cornering and with highway /city driving. Sound system is also quite good. The center-mounted console one gets used to very quickly...dont let that issue put you off. Overall, a nice car and a good value to boot!

  • Great! - 2003 Saturn ION

We found our Ion 2 to be a great investment. We are very satisfied. The one and only thing that we dont like is the interior. It is a light tan color, and stains very easily. Other than that, the Saturn Ion is a great car!

  • Great - 2003 Saturn ION
