This Year's Model Updates:

Saturn has upgraded the Ion with new fabrics, improved plastics and a new radio with MP3 and satellite radio capability. The electric steering has been revised for improved feel at highway speeds, while the sedan's five-speed automatic and the coupe's CVT have been recalibrated for improved gear selection and response. Finally, Saturn has installed additional sound-deadening material to reduce cabin noise. A Special Edition version of the sedan provides black exterior paint, distinctive 16-inch wheels and a two-tone interior.

  • Lemon of a car - 2004 Saturn ION

I bought this car as my first new car. My used Nissan Sentra, that was 12 years old, was beginning to cost me a great deal of money. Now that Ive had this Saturn Ion Coupe of 3.5 years, I should have kept my old Sentra. In 3.5 years, Ive been to the service department more than I care to admit. Its frustrating to buy a new car with so many problems: transmission, starter, etc. I cant wait until I can afford to buy a different, better car.

I like the plastic body no dent panels. This car looks brand new after 50,000 miles. Underated vehicle that offers good value for the dollar. This is my second Saturn with a very positive experience both times. Wake up America, buy American

I got the black REDLINE..all i can say is this car is great. It launches real quick. The seats are great.. i love the new steering wheel. thank god they didnt use the small tiny one. Its fun how people with civics, SE-Rs, Protoges try to cut you off at night thinking its a regular ol ion and get spanked. Its really easy to pass the redline

  • starts great then peters out - 2004 Saturn ION

bought this car brand new back in 04 and ran without any problems till 2009 right when the viecle was paid off. it only has 55000 miles and had to replace ecm computer module and cat conververter but the car just feels like its going to fall apart and the engine sound like a engine that has 150,000 miles on it. because of this quality issues I will not buy another domestic vehicle again. i just hope it runs for another 3 to 5 years.

  • 1st new car - 2004 Saturn ION

Bought it for my wife to drive. Wanted to get a new car with low monthly payments. Im 60" and I consider the car too small for me and the kids. I cant put the seat as far back as Id like. She is getting about 20 mpg with a 4 mile drive to work. Electric power steering seems a bit annoying at 30mph range, feels like car is out of alignment, but fine at 50+ mph. We purchased the Rain Forest Green. The Electric Blue is a nice color but there was a difference in tone on the different body part, spoiler, nose, engine hood, doors it didnt quite match up.

I really like this new ion model my freind has the SL1 and he has enjoyed it also. The ion has a much more sporty look. I usually can not find a car that sits comfortably, but this ion is comfortable. You can not beat the price.I feel that i received alot of car for the low price.

  • Pleasant Surprise - 2004 Saturn ION
    By -

Never would I have expected to buy a Saturn. But I liked the looks when the car came out. Still, it was sort of unexciting. When the Redline came out the excitement was added and I purchased one. It had been a few years since I drove stick, but this one is so easy and smooth that it came back right away. Excellent seats (Recaro), great wheels, nice styling. Unique enough to draw stares, fast enough to surprise most and economical to drive and own. A very pleasant surprise.
