Overview & Reviews
After 12 long years in production, Saturn is finally retiring its aging S-Series sedan and coupe in favor of the all-new Saturn Ion sedan and innovative quad coupe.
- Innovative rear-access doors on coupe, customer-focused dealers, numerous personalization options, great cargo capacity.
- Build quality not up to segment standards, unusual styling, lack of established service and repair history.

Will Never buy another one! - 2003 Saturn ION
By Unhappy Owner - May 25 - 1:53 amThe first six months the car was pretty great and then the problems started. Since then I have had it in the shop 8 times. I am so sick of taking this car in! I am trading very soon and I will never buy another Ion! The dealership was really great but the car is crap. I have never had a car with so many defects. I have had every blinker and light replaced and now I am having transmission issues. Also my AC knobs dont turn right anymore. Please....dont buy this car unless you want problems. I wish I knew about this site before I bought!

About Hyundai - 2003 Saturn ION
By Els - March 14 - 10:00 amWe went to the Hyundai dealer and it was the worst eperience ever. They were the agressive old fashioned sales guys. They wanted us to sign a paper before we even had decided if we wanted the car. Also they wanted to charge us $225.- processing fees, Saturn charges $85.-. Also I would like to know where I can buy a Elantra with moonroof, leather and ABS for less then what we paid for the ION. We love the way it drives, chairs are comfortable, a lot better then the Ford Escort and the trunk is huge.

first 1200 miles - 2003 Saturn ION
By gbsparks - February 5 - 10:00 amI got the Ion3 for under 16K. I avg 34 mpg on the hwy and 26 mpg in the city. The handling is very good and Im very satisfied with the engine and manual transmission, on the hwy and in the city. I havent found any defects in either the exterior or interior. I like the center IP and the steering wheel. I could not disagree more with the professional reviewers who seem to equate the interior design concept of the Ion with shoddiness. To me, the drivers pod puts me in mind of a well- designed video game and Im very comfortable with that. In fact, I have yet to feel anything but happy and satisfied with my purchase when Im behind the wheel.

By Queenbzitch - January 31 - 10:00 amI think the Ion is a great car! Being a teenager, I wasnt a little hesitant when I got a Saturn, but I think they have done an excellent job with the Ion. Its sporty, fun, and a great car. I love to be seen in the Ion!

Piece of Crap - 2003 Saturn ION
By NotVeryHappyJulie - January 13 - 10:00 amIts been in the shop more times than months I have owned it. The cigarette plug has come out of the console, the back one window works sporadically and one of our heated leather seats has quit working for the 7th time!!! We had a complete electrical circuit meltdown which involved the cruise control malfunctioning and our brake light not shutting off. The car ended up locking us out and we were unable to drive it. Had to be towed and was in service for over a week. Other problems include the transmission, interior parts just falling off including the dashboard (the first week). This is literally a piece of crap!

No wonder GM dumped Saturn - 2003 Saturn ION
By coloman - January 10 - 8:50 pmFrom the start it was good, but man with in a few months took a dump! Starts sometimes and others times nothing, but we have had it check and no mechanic can find anything. Coolant light on, cant get it off no one knows why no leaks, holds pressure. Blinkers keep burning out and blinker burning out recall has been done by dealer. Please dont buy one these cars!

Im Done - 2003 Saturn ION
By jewelz - January 2 - 11:13 pmDoor lock collapsed into the door, daylight running lights went out 3 times, lowest fan speed squeaks, everything stains the seats (even water), interior plastic doesnt line up/panels fell off on the inside, you have to get used to using your mirrors b/c you cant see out the back, hard/flat seats, cd player skips, the horn is hard to press, not enough ground clearance, gear shift obstructs cupholders, grinding noise from steering wheel, bad smell comes from AC, key got stuck in the ignition. I saved the worst for last- The transmission slips and the car jerks forward and the service guys dont believe you because they cant replicate the problem, fun times!
