Overview & Reviews
After 12 long years in production, Saturn is finally retiring its aging S-Series sedan and coupe in favor of the all-new Saturn Ion sedan and innovative quad coupe.
- Innovative rear-access doors on coupe, customer-focused dealers, numerous personalization options, great cargo capacity.
- Build quality not up to segment standards, unusual styling, lack of established service and repair history.

Great Car - 2003 Saturn ION
By Nicholas Towne - September 15 - 10:00 amIve always been a big Saab fan, but when I last needed a new car, I went with the Saturn Ion 2, because it seemed to drive and handle more like a Saab than any other car I tested. With a stress free buying experience and with how good the dealer was with me was outstanding. Ever since I bought the car, I have loved driving and drive when I can. The handling is excellent, and I drive on pretty rough roads and the car holds well. Its my first new car Ive ever had, and so far the best car Ive ever had.

A few annoying quirks - 2003 Saturn ION
By Jill B. - August 25 - 10:00 amThe drivers seat is too wide, so I move around in turns. No adjustable seat tilt, so my thighs are not supported. The clutch safety switch clicks. Hopefully the seat will mold to me like my SL1 did. Most FM stations have static. Brought it back twice, and have been told its working properly. Im still trying to get this solved. If I cant, I dont know what to do. Very roomy, much bigger than the SL. The tightest turning circle I have ever seen. Powerful engine, huge trunk with storage underneath. I like the central gauges, not their illumination/contrast at night. Lots of features for the money. Place for sunglasses, but not CD or tape case.

Would buy another - 2003 Saturn ION
By azgirl - August 12 - 6:36 pmI like my Ion. Six years after purchasing, its a great value. I dont drive it hard. Maybe if I drove it more, it would have more issues. Six years and less than 37K miles, the only issues Ive had are a drivers side power window issue (fixed under warranty), and I now need new bushings. Love the interior and exterior styling and would buy another if they were still in production.

Better than my SL - 2003 Saturn ION
By Crulamin - August 8 - 2:00 amI traded a 95 SL for the ION-2. I was told that that was the last 03 in stock. The car was similarly equipped as my SL with manual trans, so it drove a lot like my SL (which is a good thing to me). Good cornering, ride, etc. Power everything. The engine is quick and launches you pretty good like a turbo, even in 4th. Aside from waiting for the dealer to fix some cosmetic details, the car is perfect. I would recommend it to anyone looking to replace their S-series. :)

Handles like a dream - 2003 Saturn ION
By LuvMyIon1 - July 13 - 2:00 amMy Ion is a 5-speed. I average 32 MPG around town and love the way it handles. We used to own an Acura Legend and this handles much the same way.

Good car - 2003 Saturn ION
By ricksher - July 13 - 2:00 amThis is a great car for those that are looking for a car that is not going to cost them 20,000. This car had what we wanted and it drives great!

I love my ION! - 2003 Saturn ION
By hritch - July 8 - 10:00 amThis car is fun to drive. The small steering wheel is just my size (56" female driver) and the center mounted panel is easy to look at. I love all the features about this car that I wouldnt expect to find on a car under $20,000 -- power everything, auto headlights, remote entry, cruise control, ABS, sunroof, etc.

Non start problems - 2003 Saturn ION
By Unsatisfied - July 7 - 9:56 amWhy wont Saturn stand behind their vehicles? Only a week after purchasing my vehicle it wont start. Local repair shop said probably starter, decided to do a little research first, omg I cant believe the thousands of complaints on line. Dealers replace ignition switch which is faulty in the first place but they do not acknowledge that. Guess what the switch if you are lucky only lasts a year if that and then you are stuck with the same repair every year.
