This Year's Model Updates:

After 12 long years in production, Saturn is finally retiring its aging S-Series sedan and coupe in favor of the all-new Saturn Ion sedan and innovative quad coupe.

Pros:
  • Innovative rear-access doors on coupe, customer-focused dealers, numerous personalization options, great cargo capacity.
Cons:
  • Build quality not up to segment standards, unusual styling, lack of established service and repair history.

We just bought a new ION to replace the my daughters SL1. (the SL1 provided 48,000 miles of economical and maintenance free driving). The ION has nice design; the composite panels are the best choice for a vehicle that will be parked streetside; and Saturns economical performance is hard to beat. We were pleasantly surprised with the quiet and smooth ride performance of the ION. At 70 mph is almost comparable to my 2002 A4. The added HP and torque makes the ION a well-rounded vehicle for fun, comfort and economy. I have to question the professional reviews Ive read as being biased and under-rating of the Saturn.

In the six months I had to only have the Daylight running lights replaced and the harnesses. I guess this is an unofficial recall. If a light goes out they fix it. Otherwise, they wont contact you to have it replaced. Price of the oil filter is double a normal filter. Steering is great. Much more pep than my old 96 SC1. No noticeable reduction of power when the Ac is on.

Easy to deal with Saturn car dealers. This car has mega leg room and is much more quiet that the Saturns of past (I just moved up from a 94 SC2) The price is fantastic for what you get!!

  • Check out the trunk space! - 2003 Saturn ION

Great vehicle for the money. We have 2 small children and we all fit comfortably. The trunk is HUGE and great for groceries and everything that you have to carry. We even fit a little tikes wagon and 3 pieces of luggage in the trunk. Highly recommended.!

  • They must have built it for me!!! - 2003 Saturn ION

I love my new ION, they must have built it for me, because it is exactly what I wanted. I had a 2002 SC2 and this is such an improvment. More power, more room and way more fun!!!

Super vehicle. Great gauges. Very smooth quiet and poweful engine. The vehicle feels extremely solid and I love the looks!

  • Much Improved - 2003 Saturn ION

Nice styling, great pick-up, nice fit and finish in both the exterior and interor. Comfortable driving position.

  • not bad - 2003 Saturn ION
    By -

The overall platform of the vehicle seems strong and stable, allowing for a better than expected ride. The 140 HP engine provides ample power. The steering is "quirky" (overly sensitive without the expected feedback). The position of the gagues may be impressive for young drivers but not for older ones. Overall seems to be a good car.
