This Year's Model Updates:

The Nissan Xterra gets a few minor upgrades for 2007. Mud guards are now standard on all 4X4 models, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and sunglasses holder are now standard on Off-Road models, and body side moldings are now standard on SE models.

Pros:
  • One of the most powerful V6s in the class, above average off-road capability, ample passenger room, innovative cargo features.
Cons:
  • Still not what we would call refined on the street, lots of hard plastic in the cabin.

  • Toyota Guy loves this truck! - 2007 Nissan Xterra

Im Toyota. I think the Tacoma is the best gasoline truck ever built. With that being said, the 05-10 Tacoma and 4-runners are too darn expensive. The 07 Nissan Xterra SE was a great compromise. Im 63" and have plenty of room in the front. The transmission could use the extra gear though. It likes fuel but Im pedal to the metal man. My VDC light comes on and stays on from time to time but when I test it, it seems to work properly. Im at 104k. No other issues. Rides smooth. Fairly quiet. Tons of cargo space/hidden compartments. Love how it looks. And it was half the price of a Toyota truck with similar age and miles. I wish it was the off road package but the SE is not a bad trim level.

  • Nice Work Nissan! - 2007 Nissan Xterra

I really like everything about my 2007 Off-Road Xterra. The 6M is great to shift and I was sold when I found the cabin quiet on the highway and the fact that 6th gear revs quietly at a low 2300 rpm at 70 mph. This truck is a real good value although Id have paid more for a more luxurious interior. I drive the backroads to work and routinely get almost 20 mpg on 93 octane gas. Test drive an X for sure!

  • Great off road SUV - 2007 Nissan Xterra

This vehicle has been truly a treat. Truly a great performer off road, and very decent on road. If youre never going to go off road I would not recommend, it rides a little rough than some would like, but if you are looking for a SUV that can actually climb rocky jeep trails you cant go wrong. The cargo area is NOT carpeted which makes very easy to clean.

  • 4x4 OR - 2007 Nissan Xterra

I have had my 07 OR for a few weeks now. I find the fit and finish above average. The ride is smooth for a big tired SUV. Plenty of power and the truck gets up to highway speeds very quickly. The X tracks like a true 4x4 and requires a little feed back on the highway to keep it going straight.

  • New owner. Love my Xterra - 2007 Nissan Xterra

I bought my 2007 Xterra X a week ago and I love it. Its good looking, fun to drive and the fuel economy isnt too bad for an SUV. I got the X model with the power package and I am actually pretty impressed with how smooth a ride it is. I traded up from a 2007 VW Rabbit and this actually rides a bit smoother. I will look down and see I am going faster than I thought. I must say that the brakes are a little spongy and the extreme use of plastics on the interior makes me wonder how soon until scratches show up.

  • Refined, fast, usable and proven beauty. - 2007 Nissan Xterra

I chucked a Dodge SLT Nitro with 5,000 miles, traded for the SE Xterra, what a beautiful unit! Smooth, fast, tight and functional. When I nurse it along, I can get 23 mpg @ 70 mph. Still under 500 miles, I bet it can do better. This Xterra is so superior.

  • 07 Xterra - 2007 Nissan Xterra

Purchased my 2007 Xterra back in October 07 and its been great so far with the exception of the rattling noise comming from the rear cargo cover. I am yet to take the cover back to dealr and have them figure out what is wrong with it. Overall I would say this vehicle will not disappoint you.

  • Further Update - 2007 Nissan Xterra

At 40,000 miles had Michelin LTX M/52 ORWL Tires installed. Also new brake pads, front wheels. Driver and passenger side engine mounts had to be replaced. Seems a little early for this to happen. So, my reliability rating has fallen.

  • Traded Nitro for Xterra SE - 2007 Nissan Xterra
    By -

Heres one for ya... bought Nitro 6 mo ago, never happy for a number of reasons. Xterra has excellent body fit, more acceleration smooth engine, good front seat legroom and overall is a better built vehicle smooth as a gravy sandwich. It sits higher, has similar gas mileage and low range transfer. Roof rack is a plus. I am much happier with this beautiful SE Xterra.

  • Great all-around SUV - 2007 Nissan Xterra

This vehicle has been reliable--I have no major complaints. It is a success as a city vehicle--more practical and generally useful than my BMW 5 series. On logging trails, it is excellent. My only complaint is that it is not great as a long-distance freeway cruiser. It usually get about 18-20mpg. Some observations: the mudflaps could be better designed because in serious off-roading, they get sucked into the tires and it tears them at the base. I like the OEM Rugged Trail tires because they are soft on rough pavement and have a lot of give, but are good in mud and snow. The 6 speed is the better trans, by far. The R-F stereo could be improved with better stock speakers.
