Overview & Reviews
For 2004, 17-inch alloy wheels are now standard on non-supercharged SE models, and 16-inch, four-spoke alloys are standard on the XE-V6.
- Rugged looks and the off-road capability to match, lots of room inside, solid construction.
- Sloppy on-road ride and steering, four-cylinder and standard V6 lack power, spartan cabin design.

Nissan truck disquised as SUV - 2004 Nissan Xterra
By vixkix69 - July 25 - 6:46 amI like this XTERRA a lot. I have only had it for 2 months, but it is just like an old friend, specifically the old Nissan truck I had years ago. It IS very rugged looking and DRIVING. It feels every bump and curve in the road, but it keeps on going. Its a fun truck / suv to drive. Yes, the 5 speed is NOT powerful, but anyone knows that before they buy it (internet research). It keeps me from getting tickets! Its too cute for words and so far, I like it. We also have a Titan which is rated pretty low.But we like it,too. IT IS TOO POWERFUL!

xterrakicksass - 2004 Nissan Xterra
By tanga hans - May 22 - 2:00 amthe xterra is everything an suv should and shouldnt be. it has the rugged exterior and an essential, spacious interior. believe it or not, but the xterra is actually one of the more economical and safer rides compared to other gas-guzzling suvs. some of these other suvs are a royal rip-off price- wise when compared to the xterra, one that is priced for anyone with two kids and a dog, regardless of their ses. this is the type of vehicle that you can drive like in urban areas the same way you drive off-road. afterall, what were suvs designed for in the first place? the xterra easily comes to mind above the rest...

review of xterra - 2004 Nissan Xterra
By ssssssssss - May 22 - 2:00 ami really like the xterra. wanted to get one for several years, but always drug my feet. i have alot of fun driving it. the only thing i do not like about the xterra is that it is geared really low. other than that, i would not trade it in for anything else!!!

Missed the little things - 2004 Nissan Xterra
By lakeman62 - May 19 - 7:46 pmhave had to go back to the dealership a lot for little things like cold air around the handles and window trim falling off. the window motors are too light weight and are troublesome. Fuel economy is nothing like I expected to get, average 15.3 and thats with a lot of highway miles, you would think that with that kind of mileage it would have some power but the engine is starving for power. The A/C runs even when the system is not activated, they claim its due to the defrost system but I think they screwed up in the design and its Nissans way of getting out of a repair charge.

Safety first - 2004 Nissan Xterra
By kylie b - May 11 - 10:00 amI was in a horrible head on collision in Dec. Everyone told me the only reason I was alive was because of my car! In my opinion, the XTERRA is the safest car on the road.

Fun to drive, but.... - 2004 Nissan Xterra
By WyLd chyLd, RN - April 3 - 2:00 amI bought this "truck" a week ago and its a fun toy, but very uncomfortable in city driving & freeways (bumpy & I could feel every roll) & horrible fuel economy ($32 for a full tank). I do like the off road driving (a "nature- type" SUV -- excellent in the Northwest), the sounds (cd player) and the look. Only time will tell if i will be totally satisfied.
