Overview & Reviews
Nissan's popular Xterra SUV receives a variety of updates for the 2002 model year. Front-end styling is updated, and the bulged hood hides a newly optional supercharged V6. Inside, there are revised gauges, seat fabrics, climate controls, two additional power points and a bigger glovebox. Also standard are dual-stage front airbags, rear child-seat anchors, variable intermittent front windshield wipers, a rear window wiper and a foot-operated parking brake. In terms of options, a new in-dash six-disc CD changer is available on XE Xterras and standard on SE models. Nissan has also made the sunroof optional instead of standard. Finally, as a tribute to dedicated Xterra owners, an Enthusiast Package is available only on XE V6 four-wheel-drive models. It includes ceiling tie clamps, a first aid kit, a tilt steering wheel, foglights, front tow hooks, map lights, a limited-slip differential, manually locking hubs and rubber floor mats.
- Rugged looks and the off-road capability to match, lots of room inside.
- Uncomfortable front seats, poor on-road ride and steering, four-cylinder and normally aspirated V6 lack power.

Great & enjoyable car - 2002 Nissan Xterra
By B. Murali - April 21 - 11:46 pmAfter a lot of reserach we went in for this car. It has been a wonderful experience driving to various corners of US and in all different terrains. The reliability has been extraordinary and the drive was always a pleasure. Fairly low maintenance and running on regular unleaded have been great helps.

Xcomfort - 2002 Nissan Xterra
By Fred Garvin - March 31 - 10:00 amTake a long test drive before you buy. The front seats are HORRIBLE!!! Learn from my mistake; look at all the others before you decide. Im getting 12-13MPG at best, and its not really very fun to drive on the highway. Not happy with this purchase.

ol trusty - 2002 Nissan Xterra
By daless - March 8 - 8:03 pmBought this baby new in Sept 01. Other then couple of small issues, this thing is tough an reliable. Put off- road tires on and now ok in snow and mud-the General OEM tires sucked for traction. I have 120,000 on it now and definitely think I will get to 200,000.

xterra hot little number - 2002 Nissan Xterra
By Skog - February 10 - 10:00 amThe Xterra is definately a looker. It attracts attention from both sexes..... especially in the 20 to 40+ age group. The ride is very nice for a truck and the interior is great for the average consumer who wants sporty looks and a little prestige. I have not had any problems with it mechanically. As far as the noise goes with the roof rack, crack the front windows a bit. Also, does not feel tippy to me! Great rear room for alot of gear compared to other SUVs in its class.

A great off road truck - 2002 Nissan Xterra
By enb74 - January 24 - 2:00 amI have own the Xterra for almost a year and I go everywhere with it. I bought this truck for Off-road and 4X4 driving as well as to serve me and my wife. The truck is GREAT. High capability and great ground clearance. Good transmission and performance. The seat could be better, they dont give you much to play with even thou my is full loaded. The 6 CD in dash FM-AM radio with RDS system is great and the 6-speaker system has a good sound. The instruments panel is not a good point for the Xterra. It is hard to read and if you tilt the steering wheel down you cant see the signaling lights.

Just got my Solar Yellow SE SC 5spd... - 2002 Nissan Xterra
By Dingo - December 30 - 10:00 amI thought that I was going to feel like Ive sacrificed performance, since I just traded in a 99 Maxima SE, but this thing hauls and handles remarkably well. (I wasnt able to test drive a 5 spd Supercharged, so I went on blind faith and had one built at the factory.) Velvet shift, stylish interior, killer good looks....Gotta love it!

My X - 2002 Nissan Xterra
By lboughie - December 24 - 10:00 amThis is a great all round "real" SUV. "REAL" as in built on a truck design and not a car or car-like desing like the other mini-suvs out there. Fun to drive and even more enjoyable when shifting into 4x4 and putting the X to good use.

My Xterra - 2002 Nissan Xterra
By Denise - December 22 - 12:26 amI love this truck. I would by another one in yellow this time. It is one of if not the best vehicle I have ever owned. Only tire and breaks in 4 years. Once suggestion, gas mileage. It is horrible. It states 16-20 Im lucky if I get 13 mpg. This needs attention especially in todays gas pricey world. Other than that I look forward to another 4 years in this truck. thanks Nissan

Was a great vehicle until it reached over 100K miles - 2002 Nissan Xterra
By xterra02sc - December 12 - 3:57 amI really loved driving my SE S/C 4WD 2002, and it was mostly problem-free except for last couple of years. One owner vehicle. Problems accelerated dramatically after 100K miles.
