Overview & Reviews
The Xterra has been fully redesigned for 2005 with a new platform, a more powerful V6 and a more spacious interior.
- One of the most powerful V6s in the class, above average off-road capability, solid passenger room, innovative cargo features.
- Still not what we would call refined on the street, a few instances of low-grade interior materials.

XE Model, AT, 4WD - 2005 Nissan Xterra
By Dan Wilner - October 16 - 1:13 amI purchased this SUV in June 2004. I have been very satisfied with it. While it is built for rugged use, it is excellent around town and on the highway as long as one realized this automobile is buit on a truck frame and responds accordingly. The interior is comfortable with well thought out space usage. No repairs have been required to date. I highly recommend this SUV.

One of a kind SUV - 2005 Nissan Xterra
By ozarksx05se - October 11 - 6:56 pmI purchased my SE 4-WD x new in sept 2005. It has 20k miles now and I really enjoy this truck. It is a blast to drive. A V-6 that feels like a V-8! 5 spd auto is awesome. Rockford Fosgate stereo is great. I added Gibson CAT back exhaust, and AirRaid cold air intake. 75 mph on the highway and 21 mpg. Mechanically I belive this is one tough truck. Easy to clean interior as well. Here are my complaints: Platic materials need to be more durable in a truck marketed the way this one is. 3 warranty trips to the dealership for squeaks, rattles, and hitch recall. Local dealer is really good.

Simple SUV - 2005 Nissan Xterra
By Daniel Ocean - August 20 - 4:33 pmTraded in 04 Murano. Went from luxury to basic. The X is very simple and rugged. if u get it dirty then leave it there, it looks nice w/ dirt on it. Interior layout is fine. everything is where u would expect it to be. more storage spots than murano. spacious enough to haul things around.

Great Surprise!!!!!!!!! - 2005 Nissan Xterra
By JM - July 16 - 6:40 pmI went in to look at the 350z and drove off with the X. I was so impressed with the horsepower, the interior comfort and the look. I bought the 6 speed which is amazing for gas mileage. Living in Florida I opted not to purchase the Off Road 4x4, instead the Utility Pack which included Stability Control and ABLS. This is my first SUV. I dont think I will ever purchase a car again.

I lovemy 2005 XTerra - 2005 Nissan Xterra
By Sylvia - June 11 - 9:30 amThe Xterra is a wonderful car. It drives like a truck. It sits high. It handles well off the road. The six cd in the dash system is awesome. The seats lay completely flat. Plus the car is beautiful and can go from zero to 80 in about 8 seconds.(that was just a test)I dont drive like that always (lol).

By Sean - June 6 - 10:20 pmI purchased my Xterra in April. I have about 8,000 miles on it and it is excellent. It is the best vehicle I have owned to date. Fun to drive, smartly designed and runs like a charm. Has good power and everything I could ask for. Would recommend to anyone.

2005 Xterra - 2005 Nissan Xterra
By T.L. Jumper - May 27 - 8:43 amGreat mid size SUV, tough little vehicle. Handles well, feels very stable on the road. Plenty of power, the 6 speed is easy to shift and drive. Lots of fun to drive.

Phenomenal Vehicle. - 2005 Nissan Xterra
By Chris - April 10 - 2:00 amThe criterion was steep. I needed an SUV that not only could get me to the hospital for work in the worst of conditions, but I needed an SUV that appealed to me aesthetically. I also needed an SUV that could comfortably house me, being a 62 280 pound powerlifter, Im not the biggest man on the planet by any stretch, but my back usually extends way past most seats. The Xterra is the all in one package. Well performing off road. Quick and nimble acceleration. As well as plenty of space, although my back still extends past the seats, I am very much comfortable. I test drove many an SUV in the price range, and a month later Im still smiling everytime I get in the X to drive.

Found a friend with Nissan - 2005 Nissan Xterra
By troberts3 - March 31 - 9:20 amOwned a Cadillac CTS when I bought "The X" and didnt drive the CTS for three weeks because I loved The X so much. Purchased used 05/2010 at 65K, now has 101K. I have replaced NOTHING! Solid, reliable truck with compartments everywhere for storage. Finally sold my Cadillac because I liked the Nissan better. I will stay with Nissan as long as they keep making vehicles like this one. My ONLY complaint: Back seat leg room. My friends have a lot of trouble getting in and out. One other thing: Tire pressure light comes on after traveling a constant speed for 40-50 miles. Does it every time. I think its the new tires. Not sure...

All the right stuff - 2005 Nissan Xterra
By cp4wd - February 12 - 1:43 amI wanted the most capable off-road vehicle without having to modify. Think Jeep Rubicon capability in a far more reliable and refined truck that also seats five. I live in Colorado where off-roading is a passion. With rear lockers, hill descent control, 9.5" of ground clearance and the new 4.0 265 HP engine, you have one rugged and extremely capable 4x4. Pleasant and fun on-road with a well thought out no-nonsense interior and full instrumentation. A winning combination all around. My Xterra has been 100% reliable with no mechanical or fit and finish issues. The Xterra has exceeded all my expectations.
