Overview & Reviews
Though the Xterra was updated just last year, Nissan has made further changes for 2003. Mechanically, the V6 has received a slight increase in power, and a stability control system (Nissan's VDC) will be a new option. Also for 2003, Xterra XE V6 models come with standard 16-inch alloy wheels and tubular step rails, and four new exterior colors are available, including Atomic Orange and Camouflage (limited and late availability). Inside, a driver seat-height and lumbar adjuster has been added to V6 models and a new roof headliner net (on nonsunroof models) and luggage side net have also been added, along with new metal ceiling tie-down hooks. A "rugged" leather package is now offered for the SE trim. Other refinements include a 300-watt rating for the Rockford Fosgate-powered eight-speaker audio system, an available tire-pressure monitoring system and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution. A heavy-duty alternator and dual 12-volt power outlets located in the engine compartment are also standard on SE trim.
- Rugged looks and the off-road capability to match, lots of room inside.
- Poor on-road ride and steering, four-cylinder and normally aspirated V6 lack power.

No Regrets! - 2003 Nissan Xterra
By tssawy2 - June 4 - 1:50 amI bought my SE 4X4 new and no complaints. Yeah, some people complain about the gas mileage, well, its no Corolla but guess what no true SUV is. If you want great gas mileage, dont buy an SUV. But, I cannot say enough good things about this truck. It is good in city driving as well as perfectly capable in off roading situations. I get decent mileage about 19 in city, 25 on highway but I dont drive like a race car driver either. The interior is spare because thats part of the look. If you want luxury and 4X4 buy something else. Overall, I LOVE my Xterra and cannot seriously criticize it!

Cant be happier - 2003 Nissan Xterra
By MLB - March 14 - 4:53 pmI have never had a single problem with my Xterra. The gas mileage is not the best, but I knew that going in. This type of truck is going to be thirsty. I take it in for every service and that seems to be helping since like I said NO PROBLEMS AT ALL!! I would recomend this to everyone.

Great Vehicle - 2003 Nissan Xterra
By sfherrmann - August 14 - 10:00 amI drove a Jeep Wrangler for the past several years and I was worried about how I would like this type of vehicle since I was used to a small rugid vehicle. I am so happy that I decided to get the Exterra. It is an awsome car with a great ride and it handles beautifully. I would buy this car again in a second.

Cool SUV for the price - 2003 Nissan Xterra
By gcguzman - April 25 - 2:00 amAfter test driving 8 or 9 SUVs, I ended up purchasing the Xterra because its overall quality is great and it was the most affordable. The gas consumption is a bit high, but I can live with it since Im happy with everything else about the Xterra.
