Overview & Reviews
SE models come with titanium interior accents as well as a premium audio system boasting 100 watts of peak power and a six-disc in-dash CD changer. New steering wheel-mounted audio controls can be used to operate this system. The rumored 3.3-liter supercharged V6 is, at this point, MIA, but console yourself with a new color called Gold Rush and restyled 16-inch alloy wheels.
- Rugged looks and capability to match, excellent brakes, lots of room inside, standard ABS, first-aid kit.
- Uncomfortable front seats, cheap interior plastics and fabrics, useless sunroof on SE models, weak V6.

Best SUV on for the price - 2001 Nissan Xterra
By tbranca - November 1 - 10:00 amThe XTerra handles both onroad and offroad well. Its plenty roomy,Its a fun tough off road vehicle that is incredibly reliable. Nissan really has their act together. I average 18mpg my best is 21mpg my worst was 14mpg. I drive my X hard and have never had any problems its one of the best cars I have ever owened. I love it. I here people complaining about gas milage. the is only rated at 16 to 18. It the first car That I get the high end of the MPG. I love my X

Love it! - 2001 Nissan Xterra
By Laura - October 21 - 12:26 pmI have had nothing but fun with this vehicle. I cant imagine enjoying one of the more expensive SUVs anymore than this one. I drove it from Massachusetts to Texas and had a comfortable trip, the seats get a bad rap, but I find them very comfortable and supportive in all the right places. I recommend this vehicle to anyone who wants a practical vehicle with a different look and nice price tag.

Xterra - 2001 Nissan Xterra
By The Beast - October 15 - 10:00 amGreat styling, many complaints about the comfort of the front seats ( not my leather recliner, but I think they are OK) Very ruff drive on bummpy pavement, windows rattle when lowered, the hood is very flimsy and we all know about the sunroof.

Reliable Transportation - 2001 Nissan Xterra
By Joseph - September 30 - 10:40 pmI do my part, oil changes, tires, brakes, etc. and this car keeps humming along. I drive 70 to 80 miles per day at 70 plus mph. during the week and take the occasional Georgia Mt. trip over rutted red clay trails-never a problem! Tough and reliable transportation.

Just what I expected - 2001 Nissan Xterra
By ABretz - September 20 - 6:30 pmI bought my Xterra used, and knew when I got it that the mileage was below average even for a mid-sized SUV. The trade-offs have been worth it. FUN to drive, great curb appeal, roomy cargo area, reliable engine performance. I have had ZERO problems with it mechanically, no window or CD failure here.

Great SUV, Poor on Gas!!!! - 2001 Nissan Xterra
By UNVME - July 16 - 10:00 amFirst foreign vehicle purchased and unfortunately so far its been the most satisfying. Iam in debt to a 2001 SE 2wheel dr.X-terra. Love the Stadium seating in the back seat. Quality of the X-Terra interior is very poor. Exterior black molding yet attractive the first two months now age my Vehicle, because they fade out. I purchased the extended warranty because my electric windows as a total have been replaced 5 times (motors).

Awesome Car!!! - 2001 Nissan Xterra
By John F. - June 11 - 1:56 pmThis is the perfect first car for anyone. The interior is not the nicest, but with a teen, thats usually not a problem. The engine could be improved but its enough for most people. You cant go wrong with a Nissan.

Great truck but not without reliability glitches - 2001 Nissan Xterra
By anthonymaw - May 17 - 11:42 amI bought it used on a private sale from craigslist replacing my 1985 Toyota 4runner that I ran up 550,000km (340,000miles to you guys south of the 49th). However last year (2011) the in-tank electric turbine fuel pump unexpectedly quit (at 220,000km odometer reading) leaving me stranded on the side of highway. It wound up costing me well over $1000 in towing charges, parts and labor plus an overnight motel stay and a one day travel delay. Now that I know how to replace it I carry a spare fuel pump and screwdriver along with the spare tire....
