This Year's Model Updates:

The Xterra has been fully redesigned for 2005 with a new platform, a more powerful V6 and a more spacious interior.

Pros:
  • One of the most powerful V6s in the class, above average off-road capability, solid passenger room, innovative cargo features.
Cons:
  • Still not what we would call refined on the street, a few instances of low-grade interior materials.

  • Nissan Hit the Target With the Xterra - 2005 Nissan Xterra

First off, the Xterra is not a vehicle for everyone. It rides like a truck, is built like a truck, and feels like a truck. So if this does not appeal to you, look elsewhere. If you like the idea of a vehicle that has a lot of storage, holds 4 people and gear in decent comfort, then the Xterra is a great choice. The vehicle is extremely useful. There are pockets, and bins all over. It is the first vehicle I have owned that lets me keep all the junk I carry with me organized.

The xterra has an awsome powerplant with enough torque to pull my 3500 pound boat with ease. The gas mileage is that bad for 265 hp there is alot of suvs with alot less hp n torque that the xterra that get worse gas mileage. (Trust me I have owned 2 of them).

Get up and go. Anywhere. My wife had an 04 and the differences are tremendous. 4x4 is flawless in the snow. Gas mileage is around 20 mpg. Lots of storage compartments and lots of cup holders are a plus.

  • Absolutely Love It - 2005 Nissan Xterra

We just bought the new Xterra this weekend and absolutely love it. It rides great, has a ton of power, the interior is well designed and comfortable and it is priced great compared to other SUVs. I would highly reccomend it to anyone. It is really catered to the active lifestyle.

  • Good UTILITY vehicle; gets the job done - 2005 Nissan Xterra

This has been my daily driver for a year and a half and enjoyable for the most part. Its spacious, with plenty of cargo room with the rear seats down (Ive hauled big screens in it, dogs, even an auger). Has a ton of power so you feel comfortable driving it on the highway and uphill (the engine rarely sounds strained). Gas mileage is what I would expect from a 4.0L. I tend to be a bit more aggressive on the gas pedal and get about 18.5 mpg (mixed hwy and city). Contrary to others distaste with the interior, I like the rugged plastic and overall interior design. If you want something fancy, then look elsewhere. If you want simplicity and utility for a good price, take a look at the Xterra

  • Fast, Quiet, Functional, and Tough! - 2005 Nissan Xterra

Amazing vehicle for the money. I traded a 2003 V8 Silverado for this more sensible vehicle. The turning radius is amazing, U-turns are no problem, parking is easy. Silent interior, yet firm suspension for taking turns. Effortless acceleration, plenty of power with instant throtle response. The Xterra looks tough, and stands out from the crowded SUV market. You can smack the dealers around all day and the deals keep coming, so be firm and ask them to add dealer accessories at no charge like step bars, hitch, etc.

  • Awesome Vehicle - 2005 Nissan Xterra

I looked at last years and this years. What an improvement. Plenty of power, smart features. Basically like the Pathfinder, just a little shorter. I totally recommend it! I only have about 100 miles on it, but I love it already. Its a Nissan, so the engine should be reliable. AWESOME is all I can say.

  • Very happy with the Exterra - 2005 Nissan Xterra

Fun to drive, good performance, extremely reliable, excellent service from dealer, gas mileage a little disappointing but would not trade it for performance. At this point I feel this vehicle will be with us a long time. I am anxious to see how it will hold up. My wife loves the styling and looks. I like it too. We purchased it for her. I have my own vehicle. I enjoy driving it because it has very responsive steering and acceleration. The engine has a good sound to it under acceleration. I would enjoy a stronger engine such as offered in the new one.

  • Xterra to the nth Power - 2005 Nissan Xterra

Ive been looking for an SUV that looks good and fun to drive and Ive found it in the 2005 Xterra. This SUV is awesome with its new upgraded engine, interior, exterior, and a whole lot more. Ive been driving this SUV under both street and offroad conditions for the past month and all I have to say is, WOW!!! Its 265HP-V6 has got to be the best upgrade Nissan has given the Xterra. The difference in handling and performance between the 2005 and 2004 model is night and day, not to mention the roominess of the interior compartment!!! If you are looking for a reasonably priced SUV that has everything youll ever need, you cant go wrong with the 2005 Xterra!! One word - AWESOME!!

  • Quality Of Parts Questionable. - 2005 Nissan Xterra
    By -

The rear bumper started rusting after just 3 years. This is a car that is garage kept. Now the fuel gauge doesnt work because the fuel level sensor is defective. Its a $600 fix that has been a problem with Nissans since 2000. So why do they continue to install defective parts year after year? And there are lots of rattles. No more Nissans for me.
