Overview & Reviews
For 2004, 17-inch alloy wheels are now standard on non-supercharged SE models, and 16-inch, four-spoke alloys are standard on the XE-V6.
- Rugged looks and the off-road capability to match, lots of room inside, solid construction.
- Sloppy on-road ride and steering, four-cylinder and standard V6 lack power, spartan cabin design.

Nice Vehicle even as "bare bones" model - 2004 Nissan Xterra
By Che57vy - May 2 - 10:00 amBought vehicle used with 39,000 miles. Now it has 84,000 miles. So far, only part replaced was thermal sensor for the fuel injector, A.K.A. "wax kit", which measures engine heat for the fuel injector through a radiator hose. Wax kit, dealer installed, was $230.00. Covered under accessory warranty (3yrs/36K miles), not under drivetrain warranty (5 yrs/60,000 miles). The 4 cyl/5 spd manual is nice and economical with hwy/city mileage almost always 20 MPG with regular gasoline. Its easy to work on mechanically, with a lot of extra room in the engine compartment. Rides nice and secure on the highway. The 4 cyl / 5 spd manual is an excellent value, even if purchased brand new.

Xterra: Built Nissan Tough - 2004 Nissan Xterra
By Unidentified - April 1 - 10:00 amThe Xterra so far is possibly the funnest, most exciting vehicle Ive ever been in. I just recently bought the XE 4x4 5M. The thing is awesome!! Now, if only the gas prices would go down a bit so I can drive a little more!

Just too cool - 2004 Nissan Xterra
By GenO - March 21 - 10:00 amSuper fun to drive and great looking. MPG not the greatest for todays prices but you know that buying it. Inside is comfortable with plenty of room for people and "stuff". The Xterra feels very stable while driving even at high speeds. Acceleration is normal for a truck this size with the six cyl. Although the acceleration is a bit slugglish when going up "steep" roadways or while towing, although you can feel the pulling power. I did some light off roading with mine and had zero complaints, especially with with the 4 wheel drive.

Xterra has stood up to my bad habits, Great Truck - 2004 Nissan Xterra
By plmr747 - March 16 - 12:43 pmThis vehicle had been through the mill, I have put 250,000 miles on it and replaced the tires twice, changed the oil lots and now have to replace the rear shocks. Along with driving constantly in bad weather, I have towed very heavy equipment and up to 23 boats on a regular basis. I have the 3.3 in it which makes it a bit of a slug off the line, but the power is there when you need it. (well geared) While not towing I get around 28 mpg and can go from Kingston On. to Boston Mass. on 1 tank of fuel.

It Rocks - 2004 Nissan Xterra
By Charlotte - March 3 - 10:06 amI love my XTerra. When it is time for a new vehicle, it will most likely be an XTerra. It has been so very reliable, and has saved me from being injured in a very serious accident. I highly recommend the XTerra.

I love this Xterra - 2004 Nissan Xterra
By Michele Small - September 16 - 4:20 pmI have owned Nissan Vehicles for over 25 years and I LOVE them. I live in the northern west tip of NY state and we have SNOW!!! I got tired of never having a secure feeling in a car on bad roads so I traded in my Maxima for this Xterra. The very next day we had 8 inches of snow and the 20 mile drive to work was SO MUCH SAFER! The interior of this vehicle is pretty well bare bones, buut I have all that I want...cruise, air, 4wd and SPACE to carry my 25 lb bags of birdfood as well as my dogs!! I LOVE this vehicle as it suits my size as well...51" and 120 lbs. I can handle the vehicle and not feel overwhelmed (as I do in my husbands Ford F150). I dont mind the winter now!

Best All around SUV. - 2004 Nissan Xterra
By DJMacro - August 27 - 5:36 amGreat in the snow and in the mountains. The gas mileage isnt the best but its a great car for any outdoor enthusiest and its still a great daily driver. It can handle any terrain you put in front of it and you can still get leather, a great stereo and comfortable ride even for long trips.
