Overview & Reviews
For 2004, 17-inch alloy wheels are now standard on non-supercharged SE models, and 16-inch, four-spoke alloys are standard on the XE-V6.
- Rugged looks and the off-road capability to match, lots of room inside, solid construction.
- Sloppy on-road ride and steering, four-cylinder and standard V6 lack power, spartan cabin design.

Good SUV for price - 2004 Nissan Xterra
By Bmoreguy - April 15 - 10:00 amI actually bought my Xterra in January of 2002, I have always loved the look of the Xterra. I have been nothing but pleased with driving this vehicle from the day I have owned it. Its a great ride, great in the snow. Its large enough for my needs such as my business and for piling in my two labs for a fun drive out. I have only found two things that I am not very happy with and that is the horsepower, sluggish on takeoff and the gas mileage for such a small V6. I however still give the Xterra my two thumbs up. Nissan did a great thing when they came up with the Xterra. Thanks Nissan.

Xterra Rocks - 2004 Nissan Xterra
By mik922 - March 26 - 10:00 amThe Xterra has damn good looks and is very capable off-road. The only downside that I see is the fuel mileage at about 15 mpg.

Corkies review - 2004 Nissan Xterra
By Corkie - March 19 - 2:00 amHandles well in 4WD during the recent snow. Seems a bit sluggish at first but better as its breaking in. Reliable vehicle, came highly recommended from co-workers.

Xterra Review - 2004 Nissan Xterra
By Hglider - March 19 - 2:00 amRugged vehicle, cool styling, versatile. All around good vehicle for my needs but a few irritating things which could be improved (listed below). A big decision factor in buying it was anticipating high reliability. So far so good, but time will tell.

After 5000 miles already trading it in - 2004 Nissan Xterra
By Apollo_X - March 9 - 10:00 amIve been driving SUVs before they were called SUVs and this is the absolute worst one Ive owned. Bought it brand new and even after 2 test drives, it seemed well enough, but once we got it into traffic, the total lack of driver side leg room proved to be a huge challenge just to find a remotely comfortable pedal to steering wheel position. This, along with the poor pick up is just too much for me and my wife to keep the vehicle. Also, the day after we bought the truck, the speedometer/odometer stopped working. Took two months and three trips to the dealership to get fixed. Total disappointment since we really want to like the truck.

X is ok - 2004 Nissan Xterra
By xguy - February 5 - 12:56 amI couldnt wait to buy an Xterra. Now that I have, I think I should have waited for a newer vehicle. Its just outdated and sucks gas like its free. I havent had one mechanical problem with it, but lots of little things that show lack of attention to detail (glovebox, molding, etc.) Still, its a good reliable car and you cant go wrong with Nissan.

Love my Xterra - 2004 Nissan Xterra
By xterraowner - January 11 - 8:33 amI bought this new in 2004 and now have 67,000 miles in 2010. Love my Xterra just like it was brand new. Never any major problems, have serviced on regular maintenance schedule and its driven like a charm. Would buy this vehicle again and again. Love the 4WD when I need it which isnt often, but when I do I am so happy. This is an excellent vehicle to own!
