Though the Xterra was updated just last year, Nissan has made further changes for 2003. Mechanically, the V6 has received a slight increase in power, and a stability control system (Nissan's VDC) will be a new option. Also for 2003, Xterra XE V6 models come with standard 16-inch alloy wheels and tubular step rails, and four new exterior colors are available, including Atomic Orange and Camouflage (limited and late availability). Inside, a driver seat-height and lumbar adjuster has been added to V6 models and a new roof headliner net (on nonsunroof models) and luggage side net have also been added, along with new metal ceiling tie-down hooks. A "rugged" leather package is now offered for the SE trim. Other refinements include a 300-watt rating for the Rockford Fosgate-powered eight-speaker audio system, an available tire-pressure monitoring system and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution. A heavy-duty alternator and dual 12-volt power outlets located in the engine compartment are also standard on SE trim.

Lot of BANG for the BUCK - 2003 Nissan Xterra
By BigJbren - January 11 - 10:00 amI test drove many SUVs in this price range and the standard features on the Nissan Xterra XE make it amazing. AC, CD, Roof Rack, Running Boards, ect. It comes with alot!! To me the Xterra gives a very nice ride, great handling, and is very practical with many hooks in the back to tie down items, and i love how the rear seats fold flat!! GREAT VEHICLE

holds up well during accident - 2003 Nissan Xterra
By ellablue - January 6 - 10:00 amI love my Xterra! Unfortuntly i was in a major accident in my Xterra that resulted in $12,000 worth of damage. If not for my Xterra i would have been badly injured or even worse. Instead i am very lucky to have walked away with only a broken arm. So you can have the peace of mind knowing that your Xterra will hold up very well in a accident. The air bags deployed as the should have and remember to always wear your seat belt it could save your life.

Pros: I love the rugged look of the outside, the big tires, the material of the cloth interior, the stadium type seating on the back. Cons: It needs more power (I guess they knew that, look at the 2005 X), intermitent rear wipers, the plastic console looks cheap and the roof rack, although very nice looking and sturdy, could use some more rings to hook up straps. Overall, Im very happy with the truck. Look forward to the 05.

The Big "X" - 2003 Nissan Xterra
By Korichan - September 24 - 2:00 amLove the "X"... family trips are a kick for everyone, even the kids in the backseat!!! I love driving it, looking at it, and this is the first time that we do not complain making monthly payments, thats how much we love it. Positive handeling, power enough to climb whatever, room enough for your arms, legs and heads, kickin stereo, and all that air bag stuff makes us all feel safely tucked away...ours is avalanche white and has everything but auto transmission (wanted a 5 speed) and supercharge (didnt want it).

Poor performance - 2003 Nissan Xterra
By mark78 - September 24 - 2:00 amMAJOR power steering problems. Not a smooth ride. Great sound system. I average 16.2 mpg between city & freeway. For optimal performance of supercharge, you need premium gas. The extra money you pay for supercharge is not worth it compared to the regular model.

Fun and Dependable! - 2003 Nissan Xterra

I recently got in a car accident and totaled my x-terra. I was barely scratched & it kept me safe during the ordeal. My next car... an 2009 x-terra!
