Model Overview:

The Nissan Xterra is a traditional midsize SUV with seating for five and serious off-road capability. Thanks to stout body-on-frame construction shared with Nissan's Frontier pickup, the Xterra is a beast on the trail and can tolerate a fair amount of abuse. The downside is that this Nissan lacks the on-road polish of car-based crossover SUVs you might buy instead.

The Xterra debuted for the 2000 model year. Later Nissan Xterras are similar in appearance and personality to the early models but have a slightly longer wheelbase, a roomier interior, more power under the hood and a few extra features. If you want a reasonably priced off-roader and find the Jeep Wrangler too crude for everyday driving, the Xterra is worth a look.

  • Much better than a lot of 4x4s - 2002 Nissan Xterra

I just purchased this vehicle not that long ago after having a 2000 ford ranger with the works done to it. Same size gas tank but the Xterra goes at least 100 miles more on a tank and the cab noise, ride quality, and acceleration are much better than that on the ranger. Keeps up with the average car on the highway very easily and so much fun to drive. I highly recommend.

  • Nissan Hit the Target With the Xterra - 2005 Nissan Xterra

First off, the Xterra is not a vehicle for everyone. It rides like a truck, is built like a truck, and feels like a truck. So if this does not appeal to you, look elsewhere. If you like the idea of a vehicle that has a lot of storage, holds 4 people and gear in decent comfort, then the Xterra is a great choice. The vehicle is extremely useful. There are pockets, and bins all over. It is the first vehicle I have owned that lets me keep all the junk I carry with me organized.

  • not just marketing hype - 2006 Nissan Xterra

awesome blend of truck and SUV. in my opinion the best styling of any SUV out there. interior is quiet, tightly built, doors shut with a solid thump. engine is very good, though a little light on low end torque, but the HP proves its mettle around 35-50MPH. the perfect amount of exhaust note to sound tough, but not so much that its annoying to passengers. at cruising speed its quiet as a BMW. gas mileage is what you expect. ranks a 9 on the fun factor, only because the Wrangler (10) is parked next to it. all in all, its an awesome vehicle. if youre thinking of buying one, go for it. I cant imagine it getting better than the 05/06 model.

  • Love my Exterra - 2006 Nissan Xterra

This SUV is made to be driven and takes abuse. Tailgating is fun and we dont have to worry about the interior its made to get dirty. If you take care of the truck it will last a long time. Lots of engine. I already have 52000 miles on it and it still looks like new.

  • Most fun vehicle I ever purchased - 2010 Nissan Xterra
    By -

While I have only had this vehicle 1 wk. It by far is most fun to own out of the dzns of cars/truck I have had. We just had a big snowstorm come thru town and this rig drove thru it like nothing! Plenty of power & lots of style. My only disappointment is the cheap sound system that I will have to upgrade! Other than that the best way to sum it up is great fun!

  • love my x - 2007 Nissan Xterra

have always loved the stance of the x- terra, purchased mine used with 17000 on it,two 1000 plus mile road trips later and I LOVE this truck. highway mileage is good, lots of pockets inside. stout frame, bulit proof 4.0. no complaints with power. off road this vehicle shines. very happy.

  • The Xtera is like a xxx movie (awsome) - 2005 Nissan Xterra

The xterra has an awsome powerplant with enough torque to pull my 3500 pound boat with ease. The gas mileage is that bad for 265 hp there is alot of suvs with alot less hp n torque that the xterra that get worse gas mileage. (Trust me I have owned 2 of them).

  • A kids dream. - 2004 Nissan Xterra
    By -

When i was just a kid, i thougth that the only brands capable of doing REAL off road vehicles where land rover, jeep, and nissan. My favorite was without a doubt the patrol. all of them, with round head ligths. Since then ive been waiting to have a nissan off roader. when i saw the 2002, 3 and 4 Xterra, i went to a nissan dealer and bougth an Xterra. This is a great vehicle, on road is acceptable, but its a great off roader, no problems so far. the interior is strong, and i like that. If you want a vehicle capable and practicaL, GO FOR THE X!

  • Everything you need, nothing you dont. - 2005 Nissan Xterra

Get up and go. Anywhere. My wife had an 04 and the differences are tremendous. 4x4 is flawless in the snow. Gas mileage is around 20 mpg. Lots of storage compartments and lots of cup holders are a plus.

  • no brainer - 2009 Nissan Xterra
    By -

This is my second xterra, my first was a 2000 SE purchased in 99. There is no other suv out at the moment that I would rather have (excluding the larger BMW Xs and infinity QX56). My 2000 only gave me a fuel pump problem (replaced by dealer on a recall) in 100,000 of driving, with very bad maintenance record after the 2nd year, changed oil every other year. So I figured I pushed it to the max (last day came back from the jersey shore at avg.80MPH and it was time to get a new one. I love my 2009 off road - the sound system is awsome. The truck, well Ill just let it speak for itself. now if I can just pay this sucker off I would be the happiest man on the planet.
