Overview & Reviews
The Xterra has been fully redesigned for 2005 with a new platform, a more powerful V6 and a more spacious interior.
- One of the most powerful V6s in the class, above average off-road capability, solid passenger room, innovative cargo features.
- Still not what we would call refined on the street, a few instances of low-grade interior materials.

Great for my "mid life crisis" - 2005 Nissan Xterra
By Cindy Smith - August 2 - 12:43 amIm in my final years of toting my teens around to soccer etc., but Im still having a blast driving this SUV. I teach high-school, and the kids think I have a neat car. It keeps me young!! Its almost paid for, and I plan to keep it awhile. Ive taken several long trips and it is very comfortable for everyone.

watch out baby - 2005 Nissan Xterra
By Wendy - July 6 - 1:26 amAll the research on this vehicle was worth it. Ive enjoyed every minute of driving. Ive been off road and feel completely confident in every situation. This SUV handles great on and off road, the stereo is fantastic. I added my XM satellite radio. You can feel the bass under your seat. My 13 yo loves that! This SUV has the power to get on the freeway quick and handles great. I look forward to driving this SUV every day.

My first SUV - 2005 Nissan Xterra
By Michele Small - February 8 - 10:26 amI have purchsed Nissan cars for years, but as our winters are getting worse and worse, I needed an SUV to travel to my appointments safely. Although gas mileage is not super, the vehicle more than makes up for it. I love the 4wd easy shifting, the reliability of the vehicle, and the way it handles. I wanted a dependable and durable vehicle, not neccessarily with lots of "bells and whistles". I love this vehicle and will never have another car. Did I mention that with 5 dogs, we have added a dog gate behind the back (stadium stacked) seats and they LOVE it. Practical and my pick for an SUV!

Fun to Drive SUV - 2005 Nissan Xterra
By Mark - January 15 - 1:13 amI purchased my 2005 Xterra almost 2 months ago and Im loving every day in it. The Power is more than Ill ever need and the styling is much improved over the previous model. I really like the interior design and the front and rear seats are very comfortable. The dash is well organized and easy to access. The ride is more truck-like than car like-on the street, but its a trade-off Ill make for this beast. My fuel efficiency has been around 16 in the city so be prepared to pay for the thrill. The radio has ok reception but the CD player sounds great. The rear seats are very easy to remove for extra space.

A Real Race Horse! - 2005 Nissan Xterra
By wylygt - August 16 - 8:10 pmI bought the "S" model with all the options of the "SE" except the fog lights and expanded sound/CD option. This SUV runs like a race horse! When you push on the gas, you can really feel the 265HP go! Ride is like a truck but not real bumpy... takes the dips excellent and bumps good. Rides like a car on the highway. 4WD is outstanding! In 3 weeks I have driven over 2000 miles with about 100+ in 4WD. It will go just about anywhere off road or in mud. (I have not driven in snow, yet.) Tracksion is great, especially in 4WD LO. I feel very secure going to my favorite camping/fishing location. Really fun to drive!

Truly a "Shift" in the Nissan sense - 2005 Nissan Xterra
By JH in TX - July 30 - 7:16 pmTraded in an 02 Maxima SE for my Xterra (different needs) and I love my new rig. Nissan really has their stuff together and I am glad to benefit from their change in styling, performance, and quality. I made the move from Honda to Nissan in 98 and havent regretted it at all. I thoroughly enjoy my new Xterra from its powerful engine to the great stereo. The ride is firm but controlled, and the stereo is fantastic (much better than the Bose in my Maxima). Combine that with great reliablity and a strong dealership--this Xterra makes the ninth Nissan purchased by our family or neighbors from Peacock Nissan in the last 4 years--and you cant go wrong. My dogs love it too.
