This Year's Model Updates:

Despite the company's decision to kill the Quest after a short 2002 model run, Nissan imbues the 2001 Quest minivan with a raft of minor improvements. Styling front and rear is freshened, and redesigned alloy wheels debut on all models. Entry-level GXE gains a rear stabilizer bar, while sporty SE receives acceleration-sensitive strut valving and a strut tower brace. New interior gauges and fabrics spice things up, and a 130-watt Super Sound system is standard on SE and GLE. Luxury GLE models also get an in-dash six-CD changer and a wood-n'-leather steering wheel. An optional overhead family entertainment system replaces the former floor-mounted model, though that rather archaic unit can still be specified for SE and GLE Quests equipped with a sunroof. Front seatbelts now have pre-tensioners for improved occupant protection, and crash test scores are up this year, as well.

Pros:
  • Tidy exterior size, lots of bang for the buck, interior flexibility.
Cons:
  • Insufficient passing power, ungenerous interior space.

Fully loaded GLE with 3.3L V-6, leather and burlwood trim interior, plus 6-CD changer w/upgraded sound system, VCR (should a been DVD), power everything, with driver seat memory, and other stuff too numerous to mention. City mileage improved considerably from ~15 mpg to ~20 mpg after about a year. Electronic mileage fuel calculator is a joke, not even accurate. No major issues thus far -- knock on burlwood. Warranty will expire in a couple months and I have seen a few service advisories I would like to get checked, such as side-window latches that loosen, noises from rear suspension, seat belt recall. No issues regarding tire quality.

    nice car a bit pricey

  • Lovely, but too small for family! - 2001 Nissan Quest

This vehicle is smooth to drive, has decent pickup speed, handles well, and has every bell and whistle you can imagine - the sunroof is a nice touch! But the interior is very small, with very little leg and head room. The cargo area is equally lacking - and for a family of five, its a tight fit for a long drive. Overall, an excellent choice for a small family or adults who just want a few extra seats available - but not for larger families who do a lot of traveling.

This has been a very reliable vehicle for my family. Ive had very few problems with it. Most problems has been in the door locks or hardware.

  • OK but still not a Honda - 2001 Nissan Quest

Performance only marginal. Good around town, bad through hilly/ mountain areas on the highway. Driver side window has problem going up/down. Radio display goes in/out at times. Comfortable seating. With 45,000 miles, van has been very reliable. Some squeeks..side and rear windows???

I purchased the Quest over a year ago and I have no problems with. The drop-down tv is great for my two year old on long trips. The Toyota was nice also but I wasnt willing to pay the extra money for it. Nissans quality is just as good anyway. The quest is a good van for a family on a budget. Its not a porsche, but it will not break down on you either.

  • Better the second time around - 2001 Nissan Quest

This is our second Quest, the first being a 1997. It responds and handles well on turns with decent power for a mini van. We love the versality. Everything fits from luggage to a full- size recliner. Our grandkids love the video system. Only complaint is one of the side door windows occasionally becomes unlocked. Very reliable. Highly recommended over the Toyoya or Honda minis.

  • Could be better - 2001 Nissan Quest

We bought this vehicle because I loved the design. The van looks sleek (two tone) and nice. But too many things wrong with it in the 1 1/2 years Ive had it. Almost immediately a door sensor went out and it kept thinking there was a door open. Sliding door window kept coming loose and would make an annoying noise until replaced. Passenger door window makes a noise when coming up or down and dealer says that there is nothing wrong with it??? Could make it better.

    1. Good pickup. Repeated problems with alignment. 2. Leather seats worth extra money, as are moonroof, upgraded stereo and VCR. 3.Great visibility, not much maneuverablity in parking lots. 4.Steering wheel controls for stereo are a godsend. 5.Running boards, alloy wheels, and silver color adds sporty details to an otherwise solid design. 6. Disappointed by electrical problems with rear windshield wiper; service department has not resolved difficulties. Other electrical problems include overdrive on/off switch, and digital readout for stereo and clock, both working intermittantly. 7. Never had any engine, brake, transmission problems.
