Overview & Reviews
Fresh new styling with a decidedly industrial theme injects some much needed personality into the Frontier for 2001. A supercharged V6, making 210 horsepower and 246 pound-feet of torque (231 lb-ft with a manual tranny), is available on special Desert Runner, King Cab and Crew Cab models, which get black-chrome headlight surrounds. Supercharged Frontiers come standard with 17-inch wheels and a limited-slip differential and can be equipped with leather upholstery, bundled in a package that includes a premium audio system with in-dash CD changer and steering wheel controls, plus a security system. Interiors get new fabrics, gauges and dash trimmings, as well as a new steering wheel. Tailgate locks are standard across the board, and a number of new colors, with names straight out of a J.Crew catalog, are available, like Khaki, Salsa and Denim.
- Supercharged power, bold new styling, good interior ergonomics.
- Still no V6 for regular cab model, cramped crew cab cabin.

Great Little Truck - 2001 Nissan Frontier
By volfan32 - June 24 - 3:50 pmIve had a Ranger, Dakota, and an S10, and this truck has been better than them all. A little underpowered and a gas hog, but the front is comfortable and the four doors are great. Bed extender for the short bed is a must. Great looks, well built, engine has plenty of aftermarket parts available. I will own another Frontier after my experience with this one.

great truck - 2001 Nissan Frontier
By Tony Eberhardy - May 29 - 11:43 pmI bought my truck used 10/05. I love this truck and plan on buying another one like it whent the time comes. It has good power, great looks, and is very reliable. The only drawback is the gas mileage, I get about 18 miles a gallon.

this truck rocks - 2001 Nissan Frontier
By nissanman - May 13 - 10:00 amI looked at Toyota,Dodge, and Nissan Crew Cabs and the Nissan impressed the most based on overall feature and performance value.I was a little disappointed in the mileage at first, but with a cat back exhaust system, open air filter, and throttle body spacer plate the performance and mileage were greatly improved. And best of all,all mods.cost less than $500.00.Ive owned several Nissans over the years and will continue to buy them as long as they keep up the great quality and value tradition.

My first Pick-up - 2001 Nissan Frontier
By Frontier Frank - April 23 - 5:13 pmBought brand-new. Went into dealership to purchase another type of vehicle could not make a deal and asked if they had any of the new super-charged pick-ups. Drove it, bought it and 9 years later have no regrets. Its the most fun vehicle to drive and the workmanship and paint of the vehicle have been outstanding. Turned out the dealer I bought it from was the best I have ever dealt with.

Problem Vehicle - 2001 Nissan Frontier
By 77 - April 6 - 10:00 amThis is not a well built truck. I had 27 trips to the dealer for major repairs such as brakes, the ABS system failed twice, and I still have problems. Dealer support is almost non- exsistent, and contacting Nissan directly was useless.

Good overall except!!! - 2001 Nissan Frontier
By rvcbiomed - March 12 - 10:00 amThe only problem I have run into is the suspension being ponderous. Still working with Nissan to figure out if this a one vehicle problem or are all crew cabs experiencing this problem.

Almost a good truck - 2001 Nissan Frontier
By Watercolors - December 19 - 10:00 amIts been reliable & very utilitarian. The bed extender works well. Front seat comfort is good, back seat is OK. The handling is numb and the fuel economy is poor but its a four wheel drive truck. What is a problem is the paint and the carpets. The Aluminum colored bumper paint is falling off on the edges and on the roof rack. These are areas where its had little contact with anything. Also the carpet is discoloring. The trucks not been abused. Im going to take it to Nissan and see what they say but I dont have high hopes. On my previous Nissan truck there were similar problems and they walked away from them. I swore I wouldnt buy another but I did.

its got what i need - 2001 Nissan Frontier
By amlikethewind - December 19 - 2:00 ampaid 7900 - 43k miles, great condition. its our third vehicle behind a passat (speed) and explorer (road trips. drives great for a truck - i can take turns hard and its got enough acceleration to pass the idiots yapping on their cell phones. this is a strong 4 cyl engine, and i got 26 mpg on the first tank. im the meanest person i know - kicked a lot of tires and yelled at a lot of sales people. this truck had the best combo of comfort, price, and reliability i could find. also, the dealer was quite reasonable to deal with - i would recommend them (http://www.jaymitsubishi.com/en_US/)
