  • Great Truck - 2002 Nissan Frontier

Looked only at several used Tacomas until we stumbled on this bright red truck. During the test drive we were both surprised at the comfort of the ride - far less bouncy than the Tacoma - much quieter - and the seats are superb - The engine has plenty of power both at the low end and at highway speeds. The high glass line adds to openess and the tuck is noticeably wider inside than the Tacoma. This truck had 35K miles on it and the interior looked new. Gas mileage after 1000 miles has averaged 15.7 - mostly work commute so far but would expect 18 or so on highway - Have been using mid level octane and seems fine - nice truck!

  • Some good some bad - 2002 Nissan Frontier

After 2-years and 35K, Ive generally had good luck with it, but Ive also had issues. Several parts of the vehicle came loose; such as the steering wheel, rear bumper, driver window, lft rear window, center pillar trim, and seat material. All somewhat minor; except for the clicking/grinding in the front suspension...waiting for something to fall apart. Ive also had probs with the cruise..still not resolved. Getting approx. 16-21 mpg,for cty-hwy,respectively depending on how heavy my foot is. It is really fun to drive and hasnt left me walking, so Im not totally disgusted w/Nissan yet. BTW-My service visits have not been good experiences.

I have owned Nissan mini-trucks since 1984 purely by accident Toyota at the time were to stuck-up so I compared the 2 trucks and Nissan had the better truck on paper and since they were willing to deal I had that truck 12 years 188k and never changed a clutch this is my third one I have 51k on this one and I put new tires on it not to long ago.(I got 88k on 1st set of truck tires) I have had nothing wrong with this truck other then what I or my son have done to it.(Bent back bumper, My sons Battle Bot hurled a 10lb. Alum. box 100 into my truck blowing out my window and leaving a nasty gash all fixed) So, I say if you want something dependable you cannot go wrong with Nissan.

  • Nissan Crew-Cab Long Bed - 2002 Nissan Frontier

Great Truck. Not as much fun as the short bed Crew-Cab, but hauls a bunch. Excellent workmanship and reliability. However, Gas milage is below my expectations at 18 highway/16 city with 6 cyl auto, no supercharger. The Nissan trucks NEVER let you down.

I wanted a Murano but the "dealer" wouldnt deal. This truck was on the lot for over 6 months and was a deal. The wife loved it so at 14k less than a Murano, bought it. With 600 miles on the odom, we took it out west on a 4800 mile trip w/cycle and stuff in back. Under 65 averaged 18-20mpg. Over 65 lookout. Very comfortable on the two 800 mile days. Great on highway and had a ball with the quasi offroad trips. Lots of comments from many people. This is our 6th Nissan(3 Maximas, 2 Altimas). 520,000 miles and no complaints.

  • Happy with my truck - 2002 Nissan Frontier

I have had no problems with my truck. It has 60,000 miles on it. I bought it used with 45,000 miles on it. It fits my needs perfectly. I can haul my dirt bikes with no problem.

  • Cant have it all, I guess? - 2002 Nissan Frontier

Has the gas mileage of a V8. 3.3L to small. I had to buy a high performance air filter and exhaust to help with the "get up". I liked the compact style, because Im able to get in tighter more remote spots, than the bigger trucks. Even though the rear seating is cramped, my buddies and I dealt with it just fine, during the hunting seasons. Climbs up(with stock tires)with no problems, and some pretty steep inclines. I had to have my steering stoppers regreased, because they were squeaking/creeking on sharp U-turns w/bumps. Brakes started to make a high pitch squeak noise, when going 20-30 mph. Brake pads were fine, the discs needed to be resurfaced.

  • Love it, but hate it! - 2002 Nissan Frontier

I love my truck and wanted to buy a Nissan for the dependability. Ive owned a Nissan Hardbody in the past and there was no stopping this truck. So ofcourse I wanted the Frontier. So far the sunroof leaked really bad. One of my speakers had to be replaced. A radiator hose leaked. As if all this wasnt bad enough, the paint is peeling off and Nissan says its because of rocks. They are absoutly wrong. My service consultant laughs everytime I go in for service. He says I need to trade it.

Good overall. Good styling. Good power. Comfortable leather seating. Poor fuel economy. Costly to repair in accidents.
