Overview & Reviews
Fresh new styling with a decidedly industrial theme injects some much needed personality into the Frontier for 2001. A supercharged V6, making 210 horsepower and 246 pound-feet of torque (231 lb-ft with a manual tranny), is available on special Desert Runner, King Cab and Crew Cab models, which get black-chrome headlight surrounds. Supercharged Frontiers come standard with 17-inch wheels and a limited-slip differential and can be equipped with leather upholstery, bundled in a package that includes a premium audio system with in-dash CD changer and steering wheel controls, plus a security system. Interiors get new fabrics, gauges and dash trimmings, as well as a new steering wheel. Tailgate locks are standard across the board, and a number of new colors, with names straight out of a J.Crew catalog, are available, like Khaki, Salsa and Denim.
- Supercharged power, bold new styling, good interior ergonomics.
- Still no V6 for regular cab model, cramped crew cab cabin.

Its good but....it could be better - 2001 Nissan Frontier
By ROLLER - July 12 - 2:00 amIve had no problems thus far with this vehicle. My only problem and maybe Im being picky is the gas mileage and the speed limiter. The truck shuts down when you hit about 100mph. And yes I do have a heavy foot.

Great Little Truck - 2001 Nissan Frontier
By volfan32 - June 24 - 3:50 pmIve had a Ranger, Dakota, and an S10, and this truck has been better than them all. A little underpowered and a gas hog, but the front is comfortable and the four doors are great. Bed extender for the short bed is a must. Great looks, well built, engine has plenty of aftermarket parts available. I will own another Frontier after my experience with this one.

great truck - 2001 Nissan Frontier
By Tony Eberhardy - May 29 - 11:43 pmI bought my truck used 10/05. I love this truck and plan on buying another one like it whent the time comes. It has good power, great looks, and is very reliable. The only drawback is the gas mileage, I get about 18 miles a gallon.

Good overall except!!! - 2001 Nissan Frontier
By rvcbiomed - March 12 - 10:00 amThe only problem I have run into is the suspension being ponderous. Still working with Nissan to figure out if this a one vehicle problem or are all crew cabs experiencing this problem.

Front Alignment and Fuel Usage Nightmare - 2001 Nissan Frontier
By Jumper011 - March 30 - 10:00 amNissan should go back to the drawing board with this engine. Supercharger is good idea and helps make up for the wimpy-6. Really bad fuel economy - 16 city/20 hwy for a compact pickup. Have to align the front-end every 5,000 miles at $55 bucks a pop - one of the Nissan production techs told me this was a common problem with the "bigfoots" as he called it, referring to the large wheels and tires they put on the S/C models with no suspension modifications. Do not expect tires to last more than 25K mi.

Nice little truck... - 2001 Nissan Frontier
By jsan - March 22 - 1:10 pmExcellent for in town driving and for carrying light cargo. Offers decent comfort and convenience, and outstanding reliability for a reasonable price.
