This Year's Model Updates:

This year the CLK's standard eight-speaker Bose audio system is scrapped in favor of a 10-speaker Harman Kardon unit, while the navigation system is now DVD-based. The 320 model gets upgraded standard wheels, and offers a lighting package with foglights that illuminate with the turn signals, or when the steering wheel is turned. The 500's five-speed automatic is replaced with a new seven-speed unit with steering wheel shift controls. Also, ventilated front seats are now optional. The complimentary scheduled maintenance program has been dropped for 2005.

Pros:
  • Solid chassis, composed ride, comfortable front seats, fast power top operation in Cabriolet.
Cons:
  • High price, some subpar plastic trim, a few hard-to-use controls.

  • Wifes car - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class

As the title explains, this is my wifes car, I drive a 4-Runner. With a totally un-biased account, I can honestly say this car is too narrow for my 6 215 lbs. frame. The seats arent very comfortable, No lumbard support/ adjustment. The controls/ navigation are difficult to master and as mentioned in previous ratings, one cup holder. Now with all that said, I do have to compliment its mechanical refinement. I mean The Germans are leaps and bounds ahead of us in the automobile industry. I dont have to change the oil for 13,000 miles! We debate over 3 to 5000? The 5 ltr. engine is mated to a 7-spd A/T. for a flawless performance. Man, I wish it were wider...or I was smaller.

  • 1st Mercedes - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class

After owning a BMW for many years thought it would be a nice change. The car looks great but doesnt drive or handle like one thinks it would. The steering is tough too. The front seats are not very comforting for a long drive. No drink holders either. One word would be overrated. Lots of plastic in the interior too. Glad I kept the BMW because thats the car I still drive. .

  • Loving my Benz - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class

I took delivery of my 2005 CLK 320 in August 2004. I love my car. It is black with the stone interior, and although the interior is murder to keep clean, especially the road dust when you drive with the top down that settles everywhere, it is a beautiful, classy, fun to drive car. I traded a BMW 325ci for this car, and I think the BMW handles better, more like a sports car, and the Benz handles like a sedan. However, I have made the adjustment, and am enjoying my new Benz.

If you want to handling of BMW, the ride of Lexus, the reliabiltiy and resale of MB, then this is your car. The nice thing too,is that there are not to many of them on the road. Its everything you should expect in a luxury car and this time you get it for a price thats not crazy. Forget the bring Accuras, forget the boxy 5 series BMW, this is perfect for the sophisticated buyer with no kids.

  • What women over 50 think - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class

Fun to drive. Great handling with tight turns. Significant blind spot with top up but when its down, what a rush. The excelleration is exceptional and the ride is so smooth with higher speeds. Limited trunk space but can do overnighters without a problem. Comfortable even on longer drives.

  • 2005 CLK 55 AMG - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class

I purchased my CLK 55 AMG convertible is Southampton NY. The car is fast, handles very well and is terrible on gas. (but I knew that from the start) The interior could use some work, especially the rear seats (just make it a 2 seater) Navigation system is onpoint, sound system is clean but confusing. (still havent figured out how to change the clock time) I do get compliments on the car evertime I leave the driveway.

  • Tires leaking air - AMG wheels - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class
    By -

First I would like to say that I love this vehicle. However, I am having one tremendous problem. My tires are leaking air randomly, about every 2 to 3 weeks, to the point of being flat. I replaced the tires 18 months ago but I am still having this problem even more often. Ive taken the car to the tire dealer at least half a dozen times and he has sealed the rims but told me the chrome on the AMG rims is bubbling inside the bead rim and is causing the leaks. I dont know if he is just trying to sell me new rims or what the deal is. Anyone else having this problem?

  • Beautiful Car: Horrid Reliablitiy - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class
    By -

Reliability issues. Climate control: 5 times in the shop for now, and going in now for the 6th. Rough Idle: 4 times. Seat belt motor: 3 times. Drivers seat motor. Rain sensor activating on a dry windshield. Reverse Ttilt for rear view mirror: repaired 4 times. Radio: 2 times. Steer clear. Overall reliability of electrical items is horrid.

Super car and unbelievable that it could be so much better than the 99. Fun car to drive own and it does turn heads as well.

  • Great fun, and solid - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class
    By -

The car is really a gem and fun to drive. I have been a bit dissapointed by the little things that went wrong. The seat belt assist mechanism, the cheap center console and an alarm that had a mind of its own until the dealer fixed it. I paid sticker so I guess I expected closer to perfect. However, top down with the wife and kids is a blast and its my favorite car in the sector.
