Overview & Reviews
This year the CLK's standard eight-speaker Bose audio system is scrapped in favor of a 10-speaker Harman Kardon unit, while the navigation system is now DVD-based. The 320 model gets upgraded standard wheels, and offers a lighting package with foglights that illuminate with the turn signals, or when the steering wheel is turned. The 500's five-speed automatic is replaced with a new seven-speed unit with steering wheel shift controls. Also, ventilated front seats are now optional. The complimentary scheduled maintenance program has been dropped for 2005.
- Solid chassis, composed ride, comfortable front seats, fast power top operation in Cabriolet.
- High price, some subpar plastic trim, a few hard-to-use controls.

A Chrysler with a Classy Hood Ornament - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class
By New Junk Driver - July 30 - 10:00 amThis car should not be marketed as a luxury car. It sets expectations too high. Its poorly engineered, constructed & the reliability is appropriately bad. Ive had this car in the shop 6 times in 3 months!! Ive also had a Lexus. Spoiled, I know what luxury is. Mercedez has ruined its reputation as far as Im concerned. BE WARNED! You will not be pleased with this car unless you enjoy sitting in an auto shop.

CLK 500 Convertible - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class
By Mike Parker - July 26 - 9:13 amOf the 35 cars that I have bought new in 6 countries and on 4 continents this is by far the worst experience that I have ever had. I strongly suggest that you keep away from the CLK 500 as I have had nothing but problems in too many respects that there is space to advise. The car is an absolute lemon and is being returned to Mercedes Benz. Be warned, the looks are good and that is where it all ends.

Mercedes or Ford Topaz - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class
By CLK AMG 55 Owner - August 12 - 10:56 amI did not like the body style from the start, but I bought one anyway, fully loaded with everything possible. I paid $97,484 for this car. The dealership went through all the details how to operate the radio etc., but it was very confusing and illogical how to use all the features, I drove this car very little, it was slow for a supposed fast car. I put 130 miles on it and the speedomer stuck on 20MP. Took it back to the dealer, they had to put in a whole new assembly. Did not like this car. It is way overpriced and not easy to see out of or drive. I sold it back to dealer for 65,000 taking a 30,000 loss, better than 50K loss this car is not worth more than 30k.

Falling Short of Expectations - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class
By terrier - January 12 - 10:00 amPaid top dollar for what turned out to be a real dissapointment> Poor quality, and terrible dealer support (Claridges in Fremont, CA). Well never buy another car from them again.
