Overview & Reviews
DX, LX and ES trims carryover, but the V6 is newly limited to LX and ES. If you want to see what's new on the 2003 Tribute, you'll need to look inside. This year, the dashboard is two-tone, and the insert trim is either brushed aluminum (DX and LX) or fake black wood (ES). ES models are equipped with upgraded leather and a cold package that includes heated seats and exterior mirrors. New options include an auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass and a DVD entertainment system. Four new colors round out the changes.
- Roomy and comfortable, peppy V6 engine, great value for the money, drives more like a car than a truck.
- Loud engines, poor fuel economy and range with V6.

A solid B performer - 2003 Mazda Tribute
By FCM3 - August 23 - 10:00 amIve had my LX -4X4 for 1yr and 2 months now (15K) and I rate the car as a solid B+. The car is speedy, handles well, and acts like a car. The down side is I ve had 3 warrenty items fixed ( I am going in for a 4th next week-the sunroof stopped working) all have been nuiscences that have required the car to stay at the dealership for 1 or 2 days. However the problems started after 8 hassle free months.(sagging headliner, check engine light(bad O2 sensor), and 4X4 switch broke-in on position. I average 18mpg/city and 21 on the highway. Ive been overall pleased w/ the ride, handling, power, and space. For the $$ this has been a good car.

By lissa - June 29 - 2:00 amI really love my Mazda Tribute, it drives well and has lots of room inside. The wind noise is pretty bad on the interstate.

gas guzzler - 2003 Mazda Tribute
By wedgeclose - June 29 - 2:00 amtook delivery in mid january...got a very good price on the car...a rare LX with luxury pkg. including sun-roof in lt. tundra (green). the sales experience was fun but im glad we did our homework on pricing and invoices. we got it out of there for $24K. the car is really pretty and there were no flaws whatsoever. They gave us a free tank of gas which is good because if they had given us only a 1/4 tank we would have run out before we got home. 30 miles! Very disappointed in the gas mileage.

First Impressions - 2003 Mazda Tribute
By Laundryman - February 26 - 2:00 amMy experience with this vehicle has, so far, been good.I admit that I have not owned ot long enough to give an authoritative critique. However Ive found it to be comfortable and well equiped,( having added no extras except for wheel locks). I can live with the sound system although Id advise in favor of the upgraded sound system if youre really into music as I am.

Drives like a big truck - 2003 Mazda Tribute
By Jody in Plumas Lake - February 5 - 2:46 pmMy biggest complaint about this SUV is the turning radius. Its very hard to turn into parking stalls or make U turns in tight areas... impossible to do without doing a 3 point turn. The other thing is the road noise. It is very loud while driving. Need to turn the radio up to even hear it. Otherwise its been a great little vehicle. The gas mileage is all right, averaging 19-20, except now after my tuneup, Im getting about 15-16.

almost 3 years - 2003 Mazda Tribute
By trohn33 - January 8 - 7:03 pmHaving owned my Tribute for almost 3 years, it is disappointing to see the check engine light come on and stay on after it has been repaired. For the most part, the Tribute is an extremely enjoyable ride for me, the driver. The passenger seat lacks the same support, so at sudden braking, the passenger may feel as though they are sliding forward. As a lease vehicle, it is a nice choice. However to purchase? Get the extended warranty beyond the given 50,000 miles/4 years. The interior cabin is very roomy, but noisy. In order to hear the radio with some clarity, it has to be turned up quite a bit while driving. You dont realize how loud it is until you restart it. Fuel economy is bad.

Well worth it... - 2003 Mazda Tribute
By TMLA - November 4 - 2:00 amBought this car in Jan 2003 after having a 2001 Kia Sportage for little over a year. This SUV is much better built and has so far taken me, in great comfort, to lots of new places...After much researching my boyfriend and I decided that this SUV has the right balance of features for the price as compared to the other cars in its class.

7000 miles in One month - 2003 Mazda Tribute
By TD32 - April 11 - 10:00 amWe took our Tirbute across the country this summer and were very pleased. The MPG suffered with roof cargo and hills, but the comfort and handling were great. We were even able to plug in a cooler in the back(nice feature).
