Overview & Reviews
New body-colored door edge guards are available as an option, as is Homelink and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a built-in compass.
- Roomy and comfortable interior, peppy V6 engine, drives more like a car than a truck.
- Weak base four-cylinder, mediocre fuel economy and driving range on V6 models, cheap-looking interior.

Great "Small" SUV!!! - 2004 Mazda Tribute
By Tmetz - October 4 - 2:00 amRecently purchased this vehicle for my wife, for highway travelling and to carry around my daughters monstrosity known as her carseat. My wife is nearly 6 tall, I am 66" and my daughter is very long/tall for her age. In turn, our front seats are always to the rear and my daughters huge carseat faces rearward. Simply put, the Tribute was the only "small" SUV that would fit us all comfortably. It is a dream to drive and fun to boot. This is, by far, the best new car purchase I have ever completed. I have a feeling that there might be a second Tribute in the garage before too long!

04 Tribute LX 4wd - 2004 Mazda Tribute
By libsdad - August 22 - 2:00 amI bought this car only after I was looking at a Mazda 3. Much more usable bang for the buck, never has a suv before, but this one seems great for what I am using it for. Had a snowstorm 2 days after I took delivery and it never even spun the wheels. I went where I needed to go with no problems.

Mazda Tribute is Best compact SUV Value - 2004 Mazda Tribute
By agc - August 18 - 10:00 amThe best way to show the value you get with the Mazda Tribute is to compare it to another. I bought the Tribute and a co-worker bought a Toyota RAV4 recently. We paid nearly the same for our vehicles. I got a powerful smooth V6, ABS, towing package, side air bags, flip up rear window, retractable cargo cover, overhead opening rear door, more room & comfort, & he got none of these.

Great SUV amongst crowded field - 2004 Mazda Tribute
By WFC - August 18 - 10:00 amIve had the Tribute for six months and really enjoy it. It performed great in the MN winter weather, and offers a lot of amenities compared to other vehicles in its class that I researched or have owned.

Fun to drive - 2004 Mazda Tribute
By pixychick - August 18 - 10:00 amOverall, I think this is a great little car. The one complaint I have is that its much too noisy and the workmanship was lousy. Getting parts is always a big hassle and have to wait to get car fixed.

Buying this car was a mistake - 2004 Mazda Tribute
By agalloway4 - June 30 - 10:00 amMy car is not 1 year old yet. The doors open on their own. They will also lock you in, so that you have to crawl thru another door. It will accelerate itself while in cruise control. They doors are not sealed properly. The tires are going flat because the car was not balanced correctly and can not be fixed. I know of 2 other people with this problem, therefore I am not alone.

Great Little SUV - 2004 Mazda Tribute
By dball1 - April 29 - 9:36 amWeve had ours since May of 04 and have never had a hiccup out of it. The only issues we corrected were the horrendous Continental tires. The volume knob on the radio is a bit sticky, but thats about it.

Great value! - 2004 Mazda Tribute
By KYMazdaFan - April 17 - 2:00 amThis vehicle has been an absolute pleasure to drive for both in-town and highway travels. The Mazda Tribute is a "twin" to the Ford Escape. I started looking at the Escape, but ended up preferring the exterior and interior options of the Tribute, while the Tribute is priced comparably with the Escape. Also, the Tribute comes with a 5 year/48,000 mile warranty, compared to the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty that comes with the Ford Escape. I also get a free rental car anytime the Tribute needs to be in the shop, which by all appearances, will be seldom. A great value on a solid and very enjoyable vehicle to drive.

i love my tribute - 2004 Mazda Tribute
By ian bradford - January 27 - 10:00 amThis suv is by far the best in its class with all of the standard features, great looks, warranty and the great service from my Mazda dealer. It even drives better than the ford escape, and I thought that they were about the same.
